TomCFC 357
FTR. My money is/was on van Basten as he was Hiddink's 1st choice to be coach under him as DoF. AVB is Abramovich's choice. #CFC is his club If #CFC pay AVB release clause the total spent on compensation hiring/firing managers under Abramovich will be approx £62.1m(not inc wages).http://twitter.com/#!/garbosj
pachman40 357
Although I'm excited I am cautious. Does Ronan expect him to win champions league and premier league in his first season? Would roman be prepared to give him time to flourish? How Would players like Drogba and Torres react after being dropped by a manager of their age who was a nobody two years back. How would some old Chelsea players react on being dripped by a very young manager who was only a scout for them few years back? How will he react to the pressure from board and English media If he can win the dressing room and make us perform like Porto did last season he would be adored by fans and the board and I hope keeping him for te next decade should then be our priority.Success breeds high expectations, but I don't think even Roman EXPECTS the champions league out of this guy next season. Personally, I would expect the premier league next season because the players we have are more than good enough to win it, but we would need the older players to buy-in to AVB and show him respect. I think you'll see a big bounceback year from Lamps, Torres, etc... because they have a lot to prove and will have some of that fire back in their bellies and Mr. AVB will win over all the doubters. Sheva. 5,373
it's claimed that the only reason the young Villas-Boas talked to Bobby Robson was to slate him for dropping his Porto hero as a schoolboy, Domingos Paciencia.

Blue In Green 86
Roman's boldest hiring ever. He could go on Frankie's stag do. That's how young he is. Not totally familiar with him; I have concerns, his elderly game show host hair being foremost. I also have hopes boosted by how Porto shredded Portugal. Besides, the last gaffer we hired from Porto didn't do too badly, did he?That is, if this sudden tide change is correct. It probably isn't. GodZola 630
Ummmm, if he has been approached then I wonder how he feels about us already putting in offers for Modric et al? Also as he has stated before that he is his own man, his own ideals & not of Jose's mould then I'm not to sure that AVB would agree to Guus being DOF? Advisor possibly but DOF unlikely. If AVB is to be our new manager then I hope that Roman has finally learned from previous mistakes & he keeps his nose out of footballing affairs, gives him time to build a new vibrant & successful Chelsea but will also give him the backing in the transfer market when needed.AVB wouldn't be my choice (nor was Ancelotti) but I have been very impressed with his short time in management thus far & his single mindedness, I don't think he will have a problem with dealing with ego's being around Jose would of taught him the ropes. I would welcome his appointment & I hope that being so young that we finally get a man for the long haul that can stabilize the club, besides Roman must now be feed up of shelling out compensation after poxy compensation!
