Leif 6,006
On 5/6/2011 at 3:21 AM, Blue In Green said: This is the toughest question to answer in modern football: Build a new stadium, which could ultimately put Chelsea on the world stage permanently and sell the soul and only home of the club or stay at the Bridge and run the risk of being Liverpool, who struggle to keep up with the ascendancy of their peers? Personally, I don't think the club can grow in a healthy manner if you dig up its roots. I've heard stories of how long-time Arse fans are disappointed with the Emirates and the soulless atmosphere there. That stadium promised to bring revenue and sustained success. What have Arse accomplished since they started playing at the Emirates? In a little over a year, West Ham are about to move into a stadium they have no hope of ever filling. They will be a Championship club peddling £1 tickets to watch a club with a jaded fan base and a track around their pitch, not to mention their debt which threatens to sink them further. Besides, don't the Pitch Owners have a thing that would force Chelsea to change their name if they ever left the Bridge? We might as well be MK Dons if that happened, plastic pariahs of the game. I am an American and I watch professional sports teams leave their communities often; one basketball team threatened to leave Sacramento, California to be the third team in the Los Angeles area. They wanted to change their name when they got there. If Chelsea does that, we might as well call it what it would be: Chelsea Football Franchise. As it stands, Chelsea is not a franchise, and it will never be a franchise. It is too important to too many people for that to ever happen. I don't like the idea of moving. Stamford Bridge is home; hell, it's the only home we've ever had. Arse thought the grass was greener on the other side and look at what they lost on the way there... i thought this was a recent post then realised it's a gem from the first page. good post

Won't happen. I thought The FA had already said the exact opposite. I'm sure I heard an FA bod, being interviewed months ago, saying they would go along with this because, "We want to do everything we can to help". Naturally, I took that to mean, We're money grabbers, of course we'll accept a ground share. If the price is right. Edit: To be fair to them, the impression in this guardian article is that The FA are a bit more open about the fact that it is the money which sold them on the idea of a ground share. In the interview I listened to the line was simply to push the we are here to help the clubs cover story. the wes 7,212
The Football Association will allow Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur to share Wembley next year due to the redevelopment work at their respective stadiums. As the London clubs will not be able to play at their grounds while work goes on, it is understood they may temporarily use Wembley for home fixtures. http://www.squawka.com/news/chelsea-transfer-rumours-and-news-round-up-pellegrini-to-join-scott-signs-new-deal/590068#SYqfe3cIYEqxjd6s.99 Supermonkey92
BXL70 396
The proposed new stadium is just awesome. I very much like quality of the materials, the bricks and the arcades, the views on the pitch, the roof (in comparison: poor Liverpool fans). This stadium will not only be fantastic for the fans, it is also a real piece of architecture on its own. Very different from the other stadium that have been built in Europe. Here it is all about quality. And a stadium designed for real football fans. Having said that, has the planning application been approved yet or not? In which case, when can we expect a decision? And what is the timeline for building this stadium? The Skipper and BlueLion.

xPetrCechx 13,573
Stamford Bridge Gates – a design competition Chelsea Football Club’s planning application for an expanded stadium is pending and if the redevelopment goes ahead, we want supporters to help create it by designing a new landmark - the Stamford Bridge Gates. The Gates will be one of the most prominent features of the site and their design is to be chosen by a competition, with the full details and the background to it given below... http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/02/stamford-bridge-gates--a-design-competition.html

Hope Chelsea FC let ST holders freeze their seats until new Stamford Bridge is built because I ain't going to that dump every other week. Will be completely devoid of atmosphere as well in that souless concrete bowl. Just pull out of the deal and let Spurs have it now we have forced them to pay extra. Shame Twickers couldnt have been used.....but perhaps we should downscale a bit and share with Fulham To be fair, they've done wonders with the work done around the stadium, and it's pretty decent around there now although I'm inclined to agree with you about the stadium.I do believe with a football club playing in there every other week, with hardcore fans it wouldn't be the soulless bowl it currently is. One less thing for the media to beat us with a stick. Wouldnt mind betting that within a year or so there is a big report into the gay society and football after an incident or rally/protest somewhere. After we have had stuff about football violence, racism, sexism....it would be great not to hear the clubs name not mentioned when the next big scandal happens. Popular Post! Neilando 219 Posted March 3, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted March 3, 2016 Hi guys. So it has been a while, but I have been busy! I have been working on some internal views of th stadium. Now that the planning application is in, I was able to really make very detailed internal models without too much guess work. Of course, there is some degree of guessing as to exact finishes and materials. I have tried to use only materials I have seen in the official images, or those that have been mentioned in the planning documents. In making the images, it become very apparent that the finish materials will have a drastic effect on the overal design. The geometry is fairly simple, but the forms really change with the asemeteric design. The only thing that really binds the unusual spaces together is a limited pallet of materials. The brick really gives a rich texture to the spaces and frames openings. The flooring could be an issue. When I modelled poured concrete on the floor and walls between the brick columns, it quickly started to look cold, and I hate to say, a little like a car park. But, if the floor stone work from outside the building is continued inside, it begins to look a lot more rich. Add to that careful lighting and the spaces I think start to look ever so dramatic. I really got the sense of a castle or fortress. And with the many layers of columns and vaults, it looks a bit like the roman colleseum. I love the view looking out from the concourses to the outside of the stadium, through the forest of brick columns. And the scales of the main entrance in the west stand is rediculous. People will feel tiny moving within that entrance. I hope you like them. kmk108, bababoom, !Hazard! and 13 others

petre.ispirescu 4,928
One question about SB - will they demolish it COMPLETELY and build a brand new one, or expand it by 20k seats, like Liverpool do with their Main Stand?

KevinAshburner 1,270
Football stadiums that were never built: Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and other mothballed designs http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/football-stadiums-were-never-built-7932065 11:02, 10 May 2016 Updated 12:38, 10 May 2016 By Mirror Football The world of football stadia would be a far more picturesque set-up had these designs from shiny waterfront arenas to weird volcanic exteriors been realised Chelsea In 2012, Chelsea made an ambitious bid to buy Battersea Power Station and turn it into a new 60,000-seat arena to replace Stamford Bridge. The plans were certainly very striking, but the Blues did not win the bid , meaning the plans were (power) cut. Instead, a stylish redevelopment of Stamford Bridge which will take capacity up to 60,000 is planned.
