No but tell me if the team is playing amazing do you think a derby would make a difference in their qualities?

To me the point still stand.

At times you might have a team play amazing and at times they will play like crap.

ofcourse a derby if a massive thing. playing fulham at craven cottage in a london derby is the same as some other game (for fulham that is). ofcourse a derby makes a massive difference. add to that the fact that united have quality, world class players. so even comparing that one-off against something like newcastle or sunderland just does not make sense.

i agree with you that teams play amazing/crap at different points of time but not within a week. sunderland went from being defensively amazing to "bending" over for city 6 days later.

Not a one-of but an example of the concept.

I guess you want less quality team like Stoke beating city at their home?

That I think of Stoke has giving city a much harder time then us.

Stoke are to City what Newcastle are to us.

Each team has their bogey team if you want to call it that.

But even then I will sympathize with Sunderland because it's hard to use the same tactics back to back. It's like last year we had an amazing game at the etihad and then just got dispatch easily at the FA Cup against city.

So you got to understand its not easy to use the same tactics to perfection back to back, especially when theirs a big difference in quality.

stoke had a gameplan which worked like a charm against city. their effort on that day against city was no less than their effort against us. only difference being we scored in the 2nd minute thru a corner while city could not. that goal changed the whole game and the way they would have set up to play against us.

their is a big difference in quality between us and city? what ways? and again you are missing the point. i am not talking about tactics here. tactics can go bad, but anyone who saw the sunderland vs city game and sunderland vs chelsea game, would easily understand the massive difference in their level of effort and the kind of half arsed performance they put on the day.

The main differences between the two games were: Aguero played amazingly and Costa had a bad game, Coates played instead of Wes Brown against City and made some pretty big mistakes unlike Brown in our game, and City made much better use of their FBs than we did. You can't just put it down to effort and say Sunderland tried harder against us because there were much bigger factors at play.

Did you forget last season how everyone was scared of City and us going to play them at the Etihad?

I think even some of our fans gave that match as a lose before the game started.

But Mourinho put an amazing game plan and we won 1 to 0.

A few days later we faced City again in the FA Cup, but this time we got dispatch easily.

What changed?

Mourinho said that it was not easy facing the best team in the league in such a short period of time.

Their quality back then was much more then ours.

Now imagine poor old Sunderland. Having their games of their life and expect that same level against another tough opponent.....your asking for a lot men.

the difference was we were playing a team against whom we had won twice in the league already, we played salah as our "false 9" for 45 minutes while city had their main team who would have been far far more hungry for a win against us.

the last line is what i am saying. you can give reasons/excuses for it, but these are professional players who are being paid to play.

fair enough. the only difference was aguero. the first goal was a bad touch made into a goal by an amazing shot, then their was a clip pass by aguero for another goal. but except for that one person i dont think there was much differencr between us and city. the fbs were not a major factor in deciding the match which was pretty much done once they took the lead and made sunderland impotent in their counter attack game plan.

YESS Austin!! Can't believe people compare him to Kane. Austin's got 12 goals now opposed to Kane's only 5 goals in PL. Austin has now managed to score against us, City & Arsenal. All Kane's been doing is scoring against shitty Europa League/League cup pub sides.

QPR are pathetic. Seems like they had no idea what to do once the onus was on them to do anything during the match. The only gameplan was to give it to Hoilett, who did win a pen but then immediately went back to looking like the worst footballer on the planet. He overhit like 5-6 easy crosses from the wing, and the rest of them passed the ball out of bounds like 10 times trying to play "football"

Embarrassing display against 10 men tbh.
