not someone approaching the end of his career. someone in their prime.

Ok.

we never sold drogba left on a bosman

technically, we dint sell him...

I know, but we didn't give him a new deal and reached a mutual agreement. I am sure we probably could have kept him if we wanted to.

But yeah, we are definitely not a selling club and haven't been one for a long long time.

Not sure how I would feel about this transfer. On the one hand Rooney could be the last piece in the puzzle, but on the other he's so heavily associated with United in my mind that I'd prefer almost anyone else - except Suarez. We've had enough image problems as of late, and as much as I have the "fuck the world" attitude when it comes to supporting Chelsea, it would be nice if neutrals and the media were less... biased against us. Who knows, perhaps Rooney can help in that regard if he steps up his game for the national side after joining us?

Yes. Being hated by so many so much of the time can be quite the beating. Rooney might get us some negative attention, but surely not anywhere close to suarez. But at times being so hated makes the victories that much sweeter. Today in particular i'm revelling in all these rumors that everyone from Barca, to PSG, to Bayern want to buy Luiz. I remember less than a year ago how many people were giving me shit about every little mistake he made. Jokes on them and most of their clubs have still won fuck all. But back to topic I find Rooney to be at least decently respected amongst fans of other top European clubs. I don't see him tarnishing our reputation much if at all.

Even though we already have 3 strikers but rooney will give us a different type of striker.

I always like striker who drop deep and link up with midfielder. Somebody mentioned lewandowski which I thought will be perfect for us. But he is going to bayern so rooney is our next best option.

And Ba/Torres are not good enough, Lukaku is just potential atm.

This will run and run, it will either go to the wire and we get him or in the next week or so he reveals he is staying.

Exactly what I'm fearing. Bad for us either way.

Bet you he ends up staying after all of this shit. He'll score loads and the idiot United fans will scream and sing his name like he never asked to leave TWICE.

I think we will get him, United will do everything not to sell to us but the teams touted about who wanted him seem to have gotten other options or are happy with what they have. We probably can match his wages or there abouts, giving him the striker role and he remains in this country. It won't be an easy deal but I can see us pulling this one off albeit a long running saga.

United really are struggling to fetch in anyone right now, Moyes all of a sudden has turned into a hypocrite after saying he won't be sold to us but actually has bid twice now for Cesc after being told he is going nowhere...it's in their blood at United.
