It will be stupid for Rooney to stay. If this was his first TR, then he can stay and say he made a mistake etc, like he did last time and the fans reluctantly forgave him. Not so sure it will be that easy a 2nd time around, and personally i can't support a player who hands in a TR, he simply has to gtfo.

Rooney has won the Champions League and scored in the final. He's also proved himself in the Premier League, again and again.

I like Lewandowski and I think he fits our system better than players like Falcao, but Rooney is (on his day) on another level. He's a leader and a fighter and we need that....we need another Drogba. Not really seen that in Lewandowski up to this point.

If that is the case, then why would United even want to sell him? The fact is, great and consistent performances from Rooney has too few and far between in the past 3 years. He may have scored goals here and there but his form otherwise have been appalling for someone of his supposed quality. And more importantly, he has an attitude problem. Seem to throw tantrums around when things aren't going his way. Never seem to take care of his own fitness during off season and always come back into new season looking rather unfit. If even Ferguson has had problems dealing with him, why would we want Rooney here?

After 2 years of frustrations with Torres, think we could do with getting a ST who is on the up, not down like Rooney IMO, consistently performs and scores goals for us. And also, a ST that doesn't have any deficiencies like Torres or one that won't attract controversies like Rooney would. Buying him would be a major risk.

exactly he just isnt consistent anymore! he had a great game against City in December scoring 2 goals but since then there are not many other stand out games from him if any.

The shrek is still a very good player. Certainly, better than Ferda or BA, I feel.

If he can play as a striker, he could score 25 goals easily. Ferda playing a bit wider, creates chances, the shrek is relentless in his drive on the net. However, I doubt manures would let him go anyways.

I'm tired of debating myself about Rooney in Blue, pros and cons he certainly has it all, if he actually joins us, he would either be turned out to be a legend like Drogba or to sulk like Torres, no one can predict that really.

I say fuck it, at the end of the day it's not my money, as far as it doesn't affect us pursuing Falcao/Cavani/Lewand, just bloody sign him. With the high possibility of Jose in helm, Rooney's attitude problems could be taken care of or even be eliminated, again who knows. In Mourinho we trust.

My gut feeling is that Rooney's character is quite similar to Drogba's, I can't explain why, just my instinct.

100 goals in 4 years getting inconsistent playing time in a forward role isn't quite what I'd call 'here and there', but clearly something just isn't right at United. He's been there for 9 years, relationships develop wrinkles over that time. I think he's lost a bit of enthusiasm there and Van Persie's signing probably didn't help. He's still been effective in a deeper role.

He some issues. Using blanker statements like 'he has an attitude problem' is ridiculous. When he was asked to play in wide roles or deep roles he didn't complain. When someone like Jose says he'd like to coach Rooney specifically because of his mentality, I think you're really barking up the wrong tree.

Buying any striker is a major risk. The upside is huge, but it's also a gamble. But again I defer to Mourinho's view on him - he's a truly world-class player and if motivated properly, I think he'll lead us to the title next season.

He isn't the only striker that can lead us to trophies, but I think he's definitely got to be considered.

12 goals and 11 assists in 29 appearances is good isn't it?

not when the majority of goals were against pub teams!

he had 1 good game against City and scored a lucky free-kick against us! the rest were against pub teams!

Rooney in, Lukaku recalled, Torres out. Sorted up front with Roo/Lukaku/Ba.

We can then use the money saved by not buying Falcao/Cavani and invest in central midfield and defense.
