RamiCFC9 258
Drop Ramires? Really?Ramires from RW.For me its either drop Mata or Ramires. We either play 4-3-3 with Rami or 4-2-3-1 with Mata.Personally I prefer 4-3-3, I don't really see the Mata hype here, he is good but not really on Silva, Iniesta's level and probably never will. But one thing is as clear as daylight Lampard has to step away asap ! CHOULO19 24,332
Perhaps Luiz and Mata will also start playing in midfield?Or we could just stick with two central midfielders.

He is a class player and at his best is almost as good as Silva. He is only 24 so can get better.

zolayes 14,489
Mata would instantly become three times better ............................................... IF WE SOLD HIM
Jase 43,479
IF we do switch back to the 4-3-3, then Malouda becomes an option and we'll have 6 midfielders in total then. That said, playing Malouda as one of the 3 midfielders in the CM is not going to benefit him or us as that will negate his main strengths. sleazyB 58
I've seen Malouda play in the midfield in a 4-3-3 for France. So he can do a job there. Far from ideal, but if we are really in a bind...
TorontoChelsea 4,064
There are a couple of other problems with the 4-3-3. The main one is that it moves Hazard and Mata to wingers from a more central position. Hazard is most effective up the middle behind the striker. Ideally, you'd want Hazard and Mata being the creators. Moving them to the wing puts more emphasis on them crossing the ball and running up and down the wings. Chelsea actually spent about 80M pounds in the last two years on players that should be playing behind the striker. It just doesn't make sense to switch to a system that would remove that position entirely.
Henrique 9,133
Perhaps Luiz and Mata will also start playing in midfield?RDM must try Luiz as DM. Imo he will be a better option than Bertrand.

sleazyB 58
Yeah I'm not a fan of hazard on the wings. Maybe a 4-3-2-1 would be better if we started mata and hazard, and a 4-3-3 if Marin and Moses are playing.

The field general needs to be in a more naturally central position. Chelsea are sort of stuck between two places right now. They have 3 players they want to start who can all play the #10 and plenty of wingers but are woefully thin in central midfield. I am assuming they will stay with the 4-2-3-1 and try to work Oscar into at least part-time duty the double pivot, but that's a big risk to take. Tricky 301
Ramirez on the right wing crap needs to stop, been awful this season, in fact the whole right hand side needs to step up. Can't recall a decent final delivery from either him or Iva.Perhaps Ramirez needs to be pushed back into the pivot (I have my doubts but hope he proves me wrong). I think it's worth trying Luiz in the DM role, it's a gamble, but could pay off handsomely if it works.Seems the double Pivot has replaced lack of width as our major problem.
