Luka Modric

When Lamps needs resting we'll have to settle for Raul, although I personally would like to see Josh given a shot. The creativity will have to come from the front four. When we pay an estimate of 143mil, surely we expect them to have the quality to break down almost any defense.

Josh might be loaned out and still unproven anyway. Meireles is average in that role. Half agree with the latter part. Still need a midfield creator that can dictate matches like Scholes does AND draw out the opposition that would probably be sitting deep to contain our front 4.

Sell Raul,Essien,Malouda and Bennayoun and use the money to get Modric?

raul-10 to 15m

Essien-5m to 8m

Malouda-6m to 8m

Bennayoun- 4m to 6m

Though I doubt Spurs would sell him for 25m.Anyways lets sell some players before signing another major talent.

Yes, I see your point, but whom would you suggest? We can't get yet another 30-40mil signing like modric.

Spike, I know that you antipodeans like 'em young mate but Jesuschrist on a bicycle! 29 ain't old and he has a habit of staying healthy.....

How many good seasons can be had with a 29 year old forward?

I've got nothing against older players, but I think players over 28 should not be bought. Not everyone has the ability to be Zanetti, Maldini, Scholes, Giggs et al.

My first choice RB would be Lechtsteiner, but I can't see Juve selling him. There is a serious shortage of quality RBs in the market.

We won't know that for sure until he is given a chance in the league and not just the odd carling cup match.

He's not exactly setting South Wales alight.is he. I like the choice of Lechtsteiner mate and he might relish the chance of playing in England. Sweeping off at another tangent is Wesley Sneijder still itching to move?

I personally love Wes Sneijder, he is one of my modern favourites. However, he plays behind the CF and that position is stacked with Mata/Hazard.

Besides, he didn't exactly have a good season. I doubt he will ever be able to replicate his form of the 2009-2010 season with all the injuries he's suffered since.

He came good towards the end under Stramaccioni. I seem to remember a few of Sneijder's performances were game winners. I think he going to play well at the Euros as he loves to wear that oranje shirt.

Great shout. He would make an excellent squad player as long as we can get him for less than 12mil.

At most it would probably be 20m only. I suspect that he might even have a release clause in his contract. In addition, he is a former teammate of Hazard.

Essien could still fetch 10-15 if he shows some form in pre-season and we dress him up as "World class African midfielder whose completely recovered from injuries and has 3 years to run on his contract". Benayoun won't go for much more than 1-2 million.

He showed some nice touches (kind of Messi style), but he is far from impressive in match. Croatia should play on him, but he gets barely to the ball.

Also he plays more attacking, than CM, where we need a player. He is more Mata, while we need someone like Martinez.
