Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea

Dreadful performance against a Liverpool side that looked there for the taking but we were weak and passive and got scared by the name Liverpool

Colwill was an absolute car crash, him and Tosin were Liverpool's best players, just complete and utter shite.

Maresca needs to stop starting Noni he's living off the Wolves hatrick and start playing Neto who was direct and at it when he was on.

I knew we would get anything out of this game as we are just simply nothing special and way off were people think we are, just total garbage

How many more times is Sanchez going to cost us points before he is dropped. That second goal was woeful. Why did he keep his hands to his side so closely. Gave him a massive gap and did commit either.

Even more concerning the other lad Jorgensen or whatever his name is isn’t getting a look in. Said it at the time, pointless signing. Direct upgrade on Sanchez was needed yet we were dicking around signing a number 2.

I know Jackson scored and Noni had his moments but really, how many times is Maresca going to play Nkunku & Neto as subs? The guy is delusional if he thinks Nico & Noni are better than Nkunku and Neto. And Sancho showed today exactly why his career is where it is. Needs to improve against tougher opponents. Trent Alexander Arnold hardly spectacular defensively yet he made him look like fucking Cafu.

James & Maresca banging drum about controlling the game & having possession post match. Who cares, you concede the penalties/goals the way we did you get what you deserve.

Enzo Maresca: "I'm very happy with Robert [Sanchez], he's doing fantastic with us. Not only in building from the back but also making saves."

In all fairness, he has had some big saves this season. His distribution has been iffy though and also some moments for saves/crosses/set plays etc.

Was clear we needed to upgrade this season, so clear, but Maresca, Winstanley & Stewart clearly think he is adequate to be the clubs number 1. Which is embarrassing. He wasn’t even Brighton’s number 1 when we signed him.

Jamie Carragher: "In terms of control of the game, Chelsea were better, but what let them down was the goalkeeper. They need a new goalkeeper if they want to get back to where they want to be."

As it usually happens with hyped up games it was a dreadful one. Both teams cancelled each other out for most of the time. Jones probably got the motm, but Salah won them the game. We put Gusto who is faster and than Veiga who is a lot stronger than him, but he more often than not found a way trough.

In Salah and Van Dijk they have 2 players who are the best in their position in the world. That showed today, as Palmer was reminded he is not ready to dominate every single game.

We now need points in the next 3 games to keep up the confidence and momentum for top four. With all the hype around us and the ridicule around United they are 3 points behind us. We need to be better at home and at controlling games. All that said a lot of positive signs are still there. COYB!

As much as I think Sanchez can be a goof at times, and even if I think James is one of the few truly WC players we have., that 2nd goal was largely down to James trying to be too clever with the offside trap, and also Curtis Jones bad (but ultimately the right) first touch.

Think Sanchez was expecting him to take the shot first time, but got confounded by Curtis Jones' first touch of the ball.

To me the glaring exposure from this game was Palmer and his positioning by constantly playing through the middle. Screw the goalkeeper. This isn't a title challenging season anyway.

Other teams are going to watch what happened today, and could adopt similar tactics to what Liverpool did and man mark him out of the game.

Maresca can hopefully come up with a better solution for this. Bringing on players like Nkunku and shoving him out wide for sake of the Cole Palmer show isn't helping.

Was James to blame for Jones's free run ?
Surely the L'pool man ought to have been under pressure there. If he managed to score under pressure so be it, but not like that.
Our, goal one minute before Jones's goal, was similar but Jackson found the empty space a good distance from their box, not inside !

Are you serious he could have saved from point blank ?
He has distribution problem but other than that he is good.

no, if you watch a replay from an overhead angle, he was slow to react and could have come out far quicker and smothered the play from the beginning

Watched. No he can't.
The ball hits Jones in the left knee and it looks there as if he might lose control and Sanchez can save by diving to his left, which is what he did.
But the ball falls kindly for Jones and with his right leg sends it the other way.
Then if Sanchez does n't dive to the left, again he is giving the L'pool attacker a tap-in situation - it's too close.
Can't be saved there.
Only if they had n't let Jones roam free.

no, before there was any Jones contact wiht the ball Sanchez should have moved out to smother the play

Sky Sports, right after the game, went in great detail about it

No can do. Jones was much closer to the ball.
