Enzo Maresca Thread

Tough one in regards to Maresca.. he has made some very strange decisions of late..

All i’m saying is it is no coincidence that yet again, another manager is at loggerheads with the ownership. They are control freaks who have the weirdest view on what success is in football… because they say their project is starting to show the fruits of it’s labour yet we are scrapping out for top 4… is that all they want then?

People can be critical, its their right, but need to be careful what they wish for.

Think hes doing alright tbh, apart from some questionable subs.

But with subsitutions, every manager gets slagged Mourinho and Carlo got slated on this forum at the height of their success. Nowt as fickle as fans.

a list of managers I would accept (not listing ones who would never come now due to being all good at their current clubs, so no Pep, no Luis Enrique, no Hansi Flick, no Tuchel, no Lionel Scaloni, no Carlo Ancelotti, no Diego Simeone, no Julian Nagelsmann, no Vincent Kompany, plus (do not want either) no Arteta, no Conte, etc)

in no true order:

Klopp (almost impossible, doubt he would come here)

Zidane (pretty much impossible, plus he refuses to learn English, he waiting to take over the French national team)

Simone Inzaghi

Unai Emery

Cesc Fabregas

Xabi Alonso (IF Real sack him, I still really rate him)

Oliver Glasner

Abel Ferreira

Andoni Iraola

on edit: Xavi

not yet completely sold on:

Roberto De Zerbi

Liam Rosenior

Marco Silva

Fabian Hürzeler

Thiago Motta

wild cards:

Lamps

Didier Deschamps (may well retire after the World Cup)

🔥Just heard from someone at the presser:

The word there was the club asked him to sweep his comments under the rug but rumours were that he wasn't going to - and he didn't!

Chelsea kept cutting out the stream too on questions about the SDs and owners Wow...

(@SimonPhillips)

🔵Enzo Maresca didn't say anything when asked if he spoke to the owners or sporting directors after Saturday.

(@NizaarKinsella)

🔴Maresca says he has nothing to add to his comments on Saturday. CFC "I have already spoken about that and was quite clear."

"Are you happy with people saying you have bad relationship with the sporting directors and owners?"

Maresca: "I said after the game that I love Chelsea supporters - they deserve the best. Again, I don't have nothing to add"

🗯💣Wow, it won't be long now!💣🗯

For a season where he has lost his best CB Colwill, best attacker Palmer and lost his best midfielder for 3 games in a crunch time and had a hatful of red cards to contend with, Maresca has done more than alright and anyone who thinks the manager is the issue in all of this are wrong. We also came into the season with a 2 week preparation and no real pre-season. It was also a summer where our global profile was restored after years of mediocrity.

We can upgrade Maresca but I can't fault his commitment to preparing the team every week. Only few occasions he's got things wrong this season imo.

Great list, Vesper👌🔥

🔵I would add Filipe Luis, *Francesco Farioli, and Xavi to the list of possible coaches.

🟢I also think Matthias Jaissle is a great young coach, but he's probably still too green for the Chelsea board.

Ten Hag, Lampard, Rosenior, Silva, Hernandez, Zidane, Southgate, Rodgers,

Also theres a strong likelihood that Blueco would appoint someone who is a lot less nuanced about the game, they'd be looking for yes man first and quality second

🗯💣Chelsea have held discussions with representatives from Xavi Hernández's camp in recent weeks regarding the managerial position.

The club is keen to maintain momentum and avoid disrupting team progress by parting ways with Enzo Maresca in January.

Enzo Maresca is increasingly frustrated internally and could walk away before any potential sacking.

🔴Enzo Maresca feels he has outperformed other managers who have faced a rebuilding job when joining a major Premier League force, such as Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp previously at Liverpool, and even Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

Nobody can deny that Maresca has done a top job with this squad at hand given the injuries and so forth. Annoying to think he could have done even better with less crazier decisions in certain situations.

These issues won’t stop all the while these owners insist on using the club as a shopping window.

The board and Maresca are both to blame, they come cap in hand with each other. One penny pinches whilst the other thinks it's clever to rotate and think we have the squad of Arsenal or City

We should have got Maignan, we should have gone for another CB after levis' injury but the clowns upstairs think they no better, they still couldn't even buy us an out and out top class striker, they went for a 30M pound electrician.

If the club want to compete for tiles we need to start spending money properly and stop cutting corners

No chance. They have doubled down on the youth policy.. apparently it’s starting to prove right.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final away to Cardiff, live on Sky Sports, he became visibly impatient with requests for him to make sense of remarks that have fuelled intense speculation he was taking aim at the club's owners and sporting directors.

"I already spoke about that and I don't have anything to add," he said.

"It's Cardiff tomorrow, please. I think I was quite clear, no more than that.

"Absolutely, yes."

Enzo Maresca when asked if he was committed to Chelsea

"I respect your (the media's) opinion. I respect people's opinions. But again I don't have anything to add. My focus is on tomorrow's game where we can achieve a third semi-final in 18 months since I joined the club.

"We are in an era where everyone can say what they think. I respect people's opinion. I don't have anything to add. My focus is just on tomorrow."
