Sergio Aguero's Speculated Switch From Atletico Madrid To Chelsea Back On - Report

The rumours are back, so Chelsea could still make one big signing this summer.

Premier League heavyweights Chelsea intend to close their summer transfer window business on a high with the €48 million (£42m) acquisition of Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero, reports People Sport.

The Blues have long been linked with a swoop for the individual accolade magnet, 21, who has an apparent €57m (£50m) price tag on his head.

Despite Carlo Ancelotti's 100 per cent record in English football - a Community Shield triumph and three successive league victories - the Italian tactician is allegedly intent on adding to his ranks, and Aguero heads the shortlist of candidates.

The Argentine, though, has already featured for Atletico in the Champions League, and the club are also, according to AS, adamant on offering their attacker a new contract before interest in the No.10 becomes too burdensome.

Prior press reports had intimated that Chelsea could supplement their offer by including Deco, who struggled with injuries and form last season, but is a proven Primera Division player.

The Portuguese, though, has begun the current campaign in exemplary form, and Ancelotti may be loathe to allow the two-time Champions League winner a Stamford Bridge exit.

If this happens, i swear i'll change my name on Talk Chelsea to I love gay porn

Abramovich won't shelve Chelsea plans for Atletico Madrid's Aguero

Chelsea are determined to win the race for Atletico Madrid ace Sergio Aguero.

The Daily Star Sunday says Chelsea have decided to pay a British record £40million fee for Atletico Aguero – it's just a question of when.

A deal for the Argie was set up for this week, before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

But after scoring against Panathinaikos in a Champions League qualifier on Wednesday, Aguero, 21, is ineligible to play for Chelsea in Europe this season.

A source said: "Roman Abramovich is ready to push the boat out again in terms of big signings.

"Chelsea could still try to do the Aguero deal now because, at 21, he's one for the future."

I love Roman Abramovich

Are Chelsea set to table huge £40million offer?

Will Chelsea Football Club move for Sergio Aguero before the transfer deadline?

The Blues are one of several clubs to have been linked with the Argentine forward this summer, but Carlo Ancelotti said as recently as last week that he wouldn’t be making any more signings.

However, reports over the weekend in the Daily Star Sunday claim the Premier League side WILL be making an offer, believed to be in the region of £40million, for the 21-year-old.

Aguero played for Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League last week so is cup-tied for that competition, but at his age, he is certainly one for the present and the future.

yeah...if we want to get him... we need to get him before this happens....

Diego Forlan & Sergio Aguero Set For Improved Atletico Madrid Contracts - Report

The club is keen to secure its key players on long-term deals...

Atletico Madrid are set to renew the contracts of strike partners Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero before the end of 2009, according to AS.

First though, Atleti must ensure progression to the group stages of the UEFA Champions League tomorrow night when they host Panathinaikos in the second leg of their qualifier. Atletico lead 3-2 from the first leg.

With many clubs around Europe tracking the progress of Aguero in particular, it is understood that the club will offer him a new deal in return for a higher buy-out clause in his contract.

The Argentine star's current agreement doesn't expire until 2012, but it appears club officials are keen to raise the €60 million buy-out clause to €90m so as to deter possible interest from Atleti's European rivals.
In the case of his Uruguayan strike partner, Forlan, whose ongoing deal expires in 2011, it is believed the buy-out clause in his contract will be raised from €36 million to €60 million. Such a price on the 30-year-old Pichichi and Golden Boot winner would inevitably see him remain at the Vicente Calderon for the rest of his career.
Atletico hope to complete the Forlan deal within the next month, while it is expected that Aguero's situation will be sorted by the end of the year.
Maxi Rodriguez and Simao are next on the list of players whose contracts the club will aim to renew. The Argentine midfielder's deal expires next summer, while the Portuguese's finishes in 2011.
