Welcome Mauricio Pochettino

Perhaps Chelsea don't need to pursue new signings in the January window after all. But what does the manager think?

skysports-mauricio-pochettino_6400415.jp
I'm the coach and I always want to take the best decisions for the club. Conor Gallagher is an important player, he's one of the captains, and I'm so happy with him. If Conor is playing for me it means he's performing. It means he's a player that we count on. He's in our plan. Mauricio Pochettino

"The Sporting Director and us, we are always talking and assessing - if we need to do something, we'll be ready. The pressure is always to bring young talent, and we have different types of targets - with experience, without experience, some younger than others and that's what it takes to provide the team with what it needs.

"We need to be open to describing the situation. Always communication is really good with the owners, we're sharing everything. It's about sharing ideas; we need each other to express our vision in a way that's a positive statement for the club.

"If we need to add, we do it together, in a way that takes the best decision for the club."

You have the quote from Poch about Connor but then you have these statements. It sounds like they are working together? But then why say that about Connor? Makes it sounds like they are not working together....something does not add up.

Waste of energy to whine here I'm afraid;

Let alone the weird move of hiring THE Tottenham man, that went surprisingly smooth with our fanbase, I said it before and will say it again – TB instead of making the leap forward after taking over, made 10 steps back with Potter and another 7 steps back with this shot-in-the-dark rebuild. Besides everything else, the appointment of Poch instead of, say, Nags (who probably f**d away asap after hearing about the rebuild plan) itself was a signal to tame our ambition even further. He wasn't serial winner, he wasn't a mastermind, not even just a winner.  He is nice, decent, presentable and likeable man, as mid of a manager as one can be and those who thought otherwise and expected him to go full Mourinho with army of random U14 Brasilians and 4x overpaid Brighton reserves, given he didn't with freaking PSG, were just delusional (or clinical optimists, I'll give You guys that).

The thing that worries me however is that there may be no red line drawn, where the board will admit it doesn't work and act accordingly, as we have painfully learnt with Potter ordeal. They don't care about detrimental consequences of spending big and not qualifying into Europe, as they wouldn't know that Fifa will not bat an eye on fiscal creativity of City or PSG, but they will go ballistic on us, hand in hand with British govt, who may still feel the pain in their back hearing the sole name of Chelsea for whatever reason.

The issue however is, that I, personally, had no problem with us being dire under Mou, Sarri or Tuchel, because this team was exciting and atmosphere around it - the players, the board, the manager's personality - made fans be fine with bad times and bad decisions. No such thing since the takeover, unfortunately, we are just terrible and uninteresting. And on the way to become mid-table for years to come, with full acceptance of the board.

I still back poch. These results are expected for me.

Burst now makes it more clear what we need. CB and striker.

Disasi who we bought this summer was not a good buy. Badiashille who was buy last season is also come bad, Silva is old so he is leaving. That's 3 CB who are leaving or not good enough. We bought two CB from Monaco and have not improved.

And then we got Fofana.....

We need to get rid of Badi and Disasi and get new cb. I want Hincapie, and another cb.

Striker there's no market right now for that.

our ceiling under poch is still pretty low, even with a top squad. He's never been anything other than second rate

I'm not one for sacking managers quickly, but I fear his time is up, nothing changes, no intensity, Correct me if I'm wrong here, but over 2 season and 3 managers, have we actually had our strongest team on the pitch yet?

The players didn't look bothered today. Jogging back when they lost possession. Very worrying signs for Potch. Can't see this lasting alot longer.

Like someone said about potter , he couldn’t motivate a dog to go outside

There was a time where everyone was curious in knowing what would Poch do at another PL team with bigger funds, least we can put that mystery to bed, guy is absolute shit.

Not entirely accurate, bigger budget, but 1 billion on non proven kids is alot different to 1 billion on superstars

Irrespective £1 billion is a lot of money to spend and someone has to be held accountable.

Poch has to go soon for me as results and performances are poor and then come the summer, the footballing director lads need to go as well. If they don’t go we will never get back to any sort of respectable positions.

Those 2 should not be trusted with a project of this scale and level EVER again - they have singlehandedly set this club back at least 5 years with the flooding of “talented youngsters” they’ve recruited because it will take a long time for some of these guys to become serious players whilst also neglecting top class signings for key positions 2 windows in a row.

Caicedo and Enzo were some of the hottest midfielders in the world, both putting consistent performances last season. Yeah we didn't bring players at the peak of their career with bang of experience but these 2 were some of the best midfielders in the PL last season, now suddenly they are average players. Everton and Aston Villa are playing better football and I doubt they have squads better than us overall.

2 kids performing well in teams with experience players at there peak around them, huge difference to been chucked in to a team full of no experience and not 1 player in there prime.
