The Next Manager?

Not sure, he was probably the first to really push the Boehly consortium as serious contenders to buy the club and I'm pretty sure was in contact throughout with someone as a mouthpiece (Jonathan Goldstein I think). Probably doesn't quite have the same contacts as he did before, but I'd still rank him as highly reliable over most.

Irrespective of this, he also reports on Spurs and reportedly has built up a strong relationship with Poch over the years as a result, so in this instance I would expect him to be very reliable. He was the first one to really break just how much of a contender Poch was last week before the likes of Romano, etc did their usual thing.

You're right. He has a direct line to Poch but I think his best sources at the club have left. He's still super reliable but I'd be cautious. He was behind the curve reporting on transfer activity last summer.

And it was Romano who broke the news about Nagelsmann being out of contention. It was clear then that Poch was the likely appointment

Personally I couldn't give less fucks about Pochettino's history with Spurs but I just don't rate him as a top manager, though at this point he's probably the best we could realistically get so let's see how it goes.

Working to improve some of our younger players over the next couple of years and stabilizing the team as a top4 side would be my expectation for Poch. Once he's reached his ceiling (like he did with Spurs) it's probably the right time to bin him and get a proper top manager to win us some trophies once the team and the whole club is in a better state than it currently is.

For a youth project like this he could even be a good pick but I have very little hope he'll actually come good on the trophy front.

This is the way I feel about the appointment. Poch has never shown clear vision in organising a press, playing attacking football. But I hope that some of it was a case of managing PSG, Spurs and that nine months out of the game means he's coming back fully recharged and ready to go. Regardless - the club should keep their eye out for an elite manager in the next few years when hopefully Poch stabilises this situation.

No wonder u are always pissed with these kind of expectations

they aren’t too high. I didn’t say we need to win anything just play good football and compete in the big matches.
maybe Todd , potter and Lampard have lowered peoples standards

"Chelsea’s recruitment team yet to reach a consensus over Pochettino appointment."

Everybody is acting like Poch to Chelsea is a done deal, but this part from The Times' report worries me a bit.

What are they disagreeing on? Who even gets to make the call?

It seems that there are too many opinions around the team and there's not a number 1 that calls the shots.

I guess they want to finish the process with all candidates and some of them are in busy jobs.

Or it's click bait, never seems to be an option these days, just always the sky's falling and the planets about to burn.

I agree he's a bit overrated in terms of attacking/eye pleasing football but his Spurs side were incredible at forcing mistakes, probably the best team not managed by Pep I've seen us face in that regard.

That guy is so fickle minded.

Praised Potter to the moon when he was appointed, slagged off Abramovich.

Few months later, he turns over his head.

He literally said that Haaland will be a flop in the PL 🤣

I don't think that's the case, just seems like they're trying to delay the process (possibly hoping that we can get a win on the board and then they'll be able to announce it as good news heading into next season).

I think announcing Pochettino as quickly as possible is the best thing that the board can do, if they want to increase our chances to start winning games. Delaying the annoucement of a new manager just keeps the atmosphere instable and the players unmotivated.

As soon as it's official, Poch should get in touch with Lamps and start exposing his plans, for Frank to only rely on those who will be here 4 months from now. The later this happens, the more difficult Poch's mission will get.
