He played 3-1-4-2 in Serie A. They played from the back because they had amazing passers in Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli and Pirlo. Those four would for a diamond to pass around opponents’ press. If they weren’t pressed Chiellini in particular would carry the ball forward (like a leftback but narrower).

His two strikers were very mobile (although he didn't have the same quality in attack that Juve has today), they ran in the channels or dropped deep continually which opened space for the two box-to-box midfielders to get into the box.

The wingbacks were heavily involved. Either the striker or midfielder (and even defender at times) on their side moved to support them or Pirlo could find them with on of his trademarked long passes. They frequently got into the final third, providing both crosses and a scoring threat.

Though the 3-1-4-2 formation was completely exposed against any team that played with wingers so he decided to buy wingers next season in order for him to make the change in formation to 4-3-3. When the board failed to bring in his targets, he quit.

One thing I can guarantee, he isn't going to use 4-2-3-1.

I think that Conte or Allegri would be better for Chelsea.

Conte had his deficits that were obvious in the CL. Allegri had a mediocre spell at Milan.

Simeone, however, ticks every box for a befitting manager.

If it's between Conte and Allegri, I would pick the latter. Allegri is more versatile tactically and less intense than Conte, in the sense that he's cool headed and more calm.

You speak as if the good/great managers don't go through some dodgy periods in their career. Mourinho, Fergie etc had them before and by the way, even Simeone experienced it during his time in Argentina. And I wouldn't necesarily say Allegri had a mediocre spell at Milan. Won the league title and did the best he could with the politics that go on at that club.

Im not sure about that,Conte has demonstrated his tactical versatility and meticulousness as a coach, adopting several different formations in an attempt to find the most suitable system. The formations he adpoted included the 4-2-4, the 4-1-4-1, the 3-3-4, and the 4-3-3, before he finally settled on his now trademark 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 formation. But they are both good and i would love if Conte or Allegri to be our next manager.

As for what he's doing this season I actually can't blame him too much. His best defender and captain has been injured or out all season and he's got can't-be-bothered half the time Yaya who is lazy and doesn't help the team.

That can't be used as an excuse. Even without Kompany, Pellegrini still has some good defenders in his squad. Should be doing better and if he's really good, he would have ensured his team is defensively well drilled and competent at both ends of the pitch.

CHOULO19 could shed some light on both Conte & Allegri. I know he keeps tabs on Juve. 

For me, I don't know, Conte looked suspect in Europe. Ok, his record in the Italian league was superb (something like 7 defeats out of 114 matches), but in Europe his team did not look that good. Could not get out of a group consisting of Galatasaray and Copenhagen having the same set of players that one year later was playing the Champions League Final.

Plus he pretty much left Juventus the same way Mourinho left Chelsea - split the fan base in two - some of them still love him & appreciate him for what he did, some, that at some point used to adore him, hate his guts now.

That's not true,Conte left because he had alot of disagreements with management and one of those disagreement was that Conte wanted better players to win the champions league but Juventus did not buy the players he wanted.

The more I think about conte, the more I like the idea. He plays 352 right? It might work, but i guess hazard would be sold, as he doesn't seem to fit in.

based on current squad, with alot of room for signings, especially if we sold hazard

@lucio  i don't think he's going to play a 3-5-2 here, the system doesn't really suit the league and in the last matches Italy played a 4-4-2, however if he does he can play Hazard as second striker.
