The Next Manager?

I'm starting to think the same. My biggest worry about that is that Conte has been so unmotivated and unenthusiastic this season. Is he going to just go through the motions again? Or would keeping him be a huge sign by the board of more longer term thinking and Conte would kick on with the sign of board confidence?

If Sarri isn't happening, the only other one can be Luis Enrique. It's funny because it was almost assumed he was a 'lock' for next season and it has gone eerily quiet since. Maybe that's because he's already set up and in place once the cup final is done and dusted.

Maybe.  We'll find out on Saturday.  If he's still the manager come Sunday morning, then he's staying.

I'm concerned as well.  It's really a catch 22.  I'd like to build a club philosophy, and stick with a manager.  But, it has to be the right one.  For all the talk of "work" and "fight", this team has been absolute dog shit since the turn of the year, and I'm talking about effort as well as results.  If we are staying with Conte, what are we building towards?  Suffering without the ball, even against newly promoted sides and relegation fodder?

Luis Enrique rumors heating up again. I just don't see how we play Barca style football without a massive overhaul of the squad. He would be a gamble on the level of AVB. It's a risk that's too great for me.

Pochettino would be unbelievable but unless we offer him the moon and the stars I don't think it's possible. We'd have to not only give him a huge budget but we'd also have to sell him on the idea that we want to change as a club.

If Sarri isn't available, Allegri (who I don't believe is even an upgrade on Conte at all) and now that Tuchel are off the table I think we'd be best off just sticking with Conte for another season and hope our summer recruitment is great. There isn't a real standout candidate that I feel would do a better job.

I would be a lot more confident starting the season with Jardim or Allegri than Conte. Given AC's actions this season keeping him is just as big a risk.

Yeah, Enrique rumors heating up.. But this paragraph was the most interesting for me:

"With the Paris Saint-Germain job going to Thomas Tuchel and Max Allegri and Sarri potentially staying at Juventus and Napoli, there is an increasing fear that Conte could take a year off and collect his full compensation."

Does the club really fear this could turn into another Costa situation but with Conte this time? I knew our club is in shambles atm but this will be a new low.

Jardim, maybe. I'm not 100% sold on Allegri. Admittedly, I was the same with Conte before he came here. I have to see how he does away from Juve where he doesn't have by far the best team.

The Sarri talks with his club were always going to happen so I dont see anything newsworthy. His contract is up on the 22nd isn't it? So it was time for talks to happen.

Whether us needing a manager has helped his negotiating who knows.

Whatever manager we get in it will mean a big change in style/formations again so does it really matter who comes? We will still not have the players of a standard to play at top level!

So it could be Conte, ZZ or some manager from Forest green rovers, We NEED better players.

Conte has zero % chance of staying as the manager for next season. If he is the manager on sunday, that probably means Chelsea is waiting for him to get another job and avoid paying the money Conte is looking for.

Just offer Poch a Pep or Mou-like salary, a lengthy contract, and tell him he's completely safe in his job for the duration of it no matter what happens. Allow him time to do for us what he's done at Spuds - develop a great style of play that's both solid defensively and exciting going forward, improve and coach up players to fulfil their potential, and integrate young players.

I think if we were to show to him that we are more ambitious in the market than Daniel Levy is he'd consider it. That's the biggest problem, though.

I can't seem them waiting that long.  The PSG job is gone.  We dick around with transfers, but we've generally been on top of managerial appointments.  I don't see the club putting themselves in a position where everything is on hold because they are waiting for him to (maybe) find a new job.  He has very little motivation to do so.

Sarri staying at Napoli by the sounds of it.

Dunno mate. That chat with his board was always coming with his contract coming up. And De L being anti Sarri in the press cant have made him too chuffed.

And suppose we helped his negotiations alot if he was to stay.

How pleased we would all be if them north London scum ended up with a potentially better manager than us!

I see Conte staying, players desterting like rats and TalkChelsea going into meltdown mode.

54 hours and counting

Compared to Levy we still look like our 2004 selves as far as the market is concerned
