The fact that we've wasted two whole months (June and July), where we could've offloaded fringe players like Zappa, Barkley, Drinkwater etc, and strengthened in other areas such as DM position(Rice/Tchouameni) and CB position(Kounde) is crazy.

They are average players earning well above their pay grade. It was always going to be difficult, if not impossible, for them to find a home without taking a pay cut.

What the hell? How come we've made two bids for Lukaku but we haven't made a single bid for Haaland? Very confusing stuff

because our board does not want to get rejected.

Yes, he was average when playing as a lone ST.

Jorginho has a 85% penalty success rate counting his record at club and country. Higher than Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Muller, Salah, etc. Only notable guys higher Ibra and maybe Hazard. Not sure on Hazard but he had higher percentage going back a few years.

Jorginho is statistically one of the best pen takers in the world.

Cant beat 100%

Anyway was mostly a cheap dig, nothing too serious, cause Jorginho did miss 3 last season.

I suppose if Mount’s development explodes this season he could get into double figures. But Jorginho, Kante, and Kova shit the bed anytime they get near the box.

Kova and Jorginho look like they’ve never proactive shooting in their lives. Which is astounding considering how skilled they are everywhere else on the pitch.

Well, Mount is playing as one of the 3 attackers so he should be compared to Havertz, Werner, Pulisic, Ziyech... He fights for position with them. Even wing backs are more offensive in our system than players in double pivot. If you add defenders on set pieces and Kounde/James bombing forward from RCB role I would say that Kova, Jorginho and Kante are last in the packing order in terms of goals expected.

Not sold on Martinez. He looks good (not great) in a slow league.

He would get bullied by PL defenders. Absolutely not the player we need.

Look at the chances Werner missed throughout the season... He isn't exactly a bulldozing striker... so I'm sure Martinez would find similar chances and I'm sure a player of Martinez quality would have finished more off.

the direction of development by the end of August is clear :

the board fails to take an elite striker- in the last days of August we send offers to every second striker ready to be a reserve in the team -  Danny Ings, Gerard Moreno , Michail Antonio .

Havertz from false 9 becomes typical  number 9

we agree that the fight for the top 4 is the maximum this year as well

If Conte didn't want them then why did he give them chance after chance? (He demonstrated with Michy that he had no qualms ignoring genuine board signings), Infact why did he look at reuniting with a couple of them at Inter?

Well what could he do with some of them? Who was behind Baka and Morata if they weren't picked?

With Baka, he would have either ran Cesc or Kante to the ground (which he ended up doing once he finally gave up on him) or put Luiz there to prove a point. Conte was playing chicken the entire season to the point he borderline started throwing games and we're suppose to believe he would have persisted with a player barely doing the basics right had he been signed against his will? It just doesn't add up, in reality he would have exhausted literally every option possible before turning to him.

With Morata, false 9 until Oli arrived.

Then Tuchel would be worse than Lampard domestically.

I have a bad feeling that he will not finish the season for one reason or another

See what Solskjaer get from United  ( Sancho , Varane , Saul* , Tripier*) ,  City ( Kane and Grealish )

Tuchel  after CL will get very different profile players from these .

United  sold Lukaku for 80m 2years ago.

Now , Chelsea try to sign Lukaku  for 130m lol .

Good  job  Marina !

What does it have to do to Marina? We didn’t want to buy him two years ago. Also, MU sold him to Inter for that prize, not to Chelsea.. Not same thing. Also, he improved his game in last two years. Making Marina scapegoat for every wrong pass is getting beyond ridiculous.

You've destroyed your own argument mentioning Solskjaer, he had a terrible window last summer and still despite that finished 2nd.

So if you think Tuchel will struggle for top 4 that must mean you think Solskjaer is a better coach, no?

I mean United did not win anything, but supported Solskjaer  lets see how our board will support  Tuchel after the Champions League .

Tbh i wouldn't hold not challenging for the title against Tuchel even if we signed Messi, Guardiola is practically a cheat code in league football.

This squad even with no signing's however should be comfortable top 4 and if Tuchel fails where the manager we sacked for him succeded with a massively inferior squad, then questions will rightly be asked.
