These transfer sagas about needing the player to ask for a request never works, does it?

The one thing that has been missing in this is that we have not heard from Chilwell himself on what he actually wants. IIRC, he hasn't come out to say anything about his future and all we have got is journalists saying we are interested bla bla bla.

So,,after Werner fee we still have a budget around £100-120m for Havertz + LB maybe Tagliafico. need to sell up to £50-80m if we really want sign Oblak (Kepa + Cash)....

It doesn't work like that - we have money from CL also, and the signings free are spread across few years.

The problem isn't the fees. It is to do with wages and the Corona hit. We do not know the Corona hit, but lets look at the wages of just the deadwood:

Kepa - £170k a week

Zappa - £80k a week

Baba - £60k a week

Emerson - £40k a week

Drinky - £100k a week

Barkley - £100k a week

Baka - £110k a week

Moses - £90k a week

Batsh*t - £110k a week

Those are just on players we know aren't going to play much again. That is £860k a week/£44.5m a year on pure deadwood. With the exception of Emerson, none of those players are going to earn that money again either, so most will want to see their contracts out unless they can get similar terms elsewhere.

A number of those were or have been loaned out in recent times so it would be interesting to know if teams have covered their wages in full or been supplemented by us.

I'm pretty sure we had to cover a good proportion of Drinkwater's wages when he went out on loan but I would expect the likes of Zappacosta, Bakayoko and Moses we wouldn't be.

With the new loan rules coming into place some players will need to be sold rather than loaned out. Of that list I would say Kepa , Baba and Drinkwater are the most difficult ones to be shifting. Kepa will be easy to loan out, but we'll do well to minimise our losses on him across transfer fee and wages.

Batshuayi will depend on him, with the Euros next year he knows exactly where he stands at Chelsea so he either sees out his contract or he makes a loan or permanent move this coming season.

I think there's a market in Italy for Zappacosta and Emerson. Moses is a bit of a specialist player because he's only ever excelled as a wing back but he had 2 very good years there for us not long ago and teams that play a wing back system may be prepared to take a punt on him.

Barkley I think would be easy to move on if we put him up for sale, so long as he is prepared to move. Pretty much any team below us in the league he'd be playing regularly for and he has recently been first choice for the national team.

Bakayoko despite how bad he was for us, is rated in both France and Italy so again i think there will be a market for him.

The "book" value of this list won't be that high anymore with the exception of Kepa and Drinkwater. Most can be sold for pretty reasonable amounts without a loss for the purposes of the accounts.

I think we have better shot at Ter Stegen than Oblak. He should be like 40m cheaper. 2 years left on contract with Barca and rumor is that he is not happy there, does not get along with Barca teammates. Almost never post anything with them on social media.

Job for agent Rudi and agent Werner?

And now very stupid question...

Hypothetically (never gonna happen) if for example Rice or Chilwell decide to retire from football like Schurrle and want to do something else in life and than change their mind week later can we sign them for free?
