Mbappe leaving on a free next summer...

Could he still make his way here??

Paris Saint-Germain

  • Kylian Mbappé has now informed PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi that he will LEAVE the club as a free agent. The terms of the departure are yet to be fully agreed but he will leave PSG in the summer. The decision is 100% confirmed. PSG and Mbappe will communicate together about Kylian’s exit in the upcoming months. Real Madrid keep working on the Mbappé deal with total confidence to get it done.

  • Real Madrid’s fixed salary proposal for Kylian Mbappé is way lower than the one made in summer 2022 — and also lower than his current salary. Real want Mbappé to join the club at their conditions after spending years on this saga. Contract proposal, already in Kylian’s hands.
  • The relationship between Mbappé and Florentino Pérez is very good because of a specific detail. On May 21, 2022, Mbappé insisted with his camp to call the Real president personally to inform him about his decision to reject their bid and stay at PSG - Pérez appreciated that.

  • PSG advisor Luis Campos is currently not planning to leave Paris Saint-Germain despite Kylian Mbappé’s exit in June. Campos wants to stay and continue his project at PSG with the Champions League as their main goal.

I can only see Mbappe ending up at 2 clubs (that are actually serious about winning trophies and competing) - 1. Real Madrid, 2. Liverpool (you just know they've got Alonso lined up as the next great manager)

Liverpool lose a lot of their aura without Klopp. I think its now clear he's signing for Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain might have to make a tough decision during this summer transfer window. Nuno Mendes is one of the best players in his position. However, his inability to stay healthy might cause the Parisians to look for another left-back.

If Mendes doesn’t demonstrate that he’s fit and capable of being PSG’s starting left-back, the club already has someone in mind to potentially take over his position.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Le10Sport), AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez would be a popular prospect within PSG and could become a priority

if Mendes’ situation does not improve.

The 21-year-old Mendes has not played a match since April 2023.

If he returns to training and can play again in March, certain doubts persist. As a result, PSG must be pondering whether they need to move for the Frenchman.

If PSG does pursue the AC Milan star, they’ll likely lean on his brother, Lucas, and the other teammates on the French national team to serve as recruiters to bring him to Paris.

The 26-year-old is under contract until 2026, scoring three goals and recording six assists in all competitions this 2023-24 season.

so

in terms of LBs

Mendes looks like he may perhaps be really damaged long term

Davies is likely off to Real Madrid

Theo may well join his brother at PSG

Robertson is 30yo in 3 weeks and always injured now

Alejandro Balde is out for the year with a bad tendon rupture

that leaves

Federico Dimarco
Pervis Estupiñán
José Gayà
Quilindschy Hartman
Miguel Gutiérrez

Rayan Aït-Nouri
Milos Kerkez

Jonathan David or Osimhen are the only acceptable ones.

The rest are average strikers not fit for top, top teams. Martinez is a maybe.

2 points

Not counting Mbappe as a CF, and leaving aside the ageing Benz and Lewa

There are only 4 WC CFs

Håland

Kane

Lautaro

Osimhen

There is no maybe about Lautaro. I would take him over all but Håland and Mbappe (if you count him as a CF) for sure, and MAYBE Kane, due to Kane's age.

Point 2

You only left out two other players of my 5 acceptables (you called them 'the rest', as if there was a bunch left out). Vlahovic and Toney. I would deffo take them easily over anyone but the other 3 I listed as legit targetd, plus, of course, Håland, Mbappe, and Kane, who are not ever coming here (barring some remotely possible upper 30s yo cameo in the winter of their careers).

After my 5 listed, in terms of CFs actually available CFs (and TBF, there is almost zero chance Lautaro comes here, sadly), the drop off is fast and deep.

I so do not trust, atm, Evan Ferguson to be a smart buy.

Brighton (ffs), young (turns 20 in October), £100m or so, and only has 6 goals so far, all season, all comps.

Alexander Isak is not available, and Ollie Watkins turns 29yo this year, no way is he worth the £100m Villa want.

Loïs Openda and Santiago Gimenez are total gambles, same for Serhou Guirassy (massive risk for 'one season wonder'), Victor Boniface, Benjamin Šeško (atm, at leadt, we shall see in 1 or 2 more years), and Viktor Gyökeres.

Openda would probably be the best buy out of that lot, but is probably not a sure thing at all.

A wild card I MIGHT accept is (this is so unlike me, as I rarely go back for rejects not named De Bruyne or Salah or, to stretch it, Mbappe).....

Dominic Solanke.

Not joking. If a truly fair price, we could do much worse.

Oh, and fuck bringing back Rom.

Is Jonathan David actually any good?

Osimhen ‘might not’ be fit for Napoli-Barcelona

https://football-italia.net/osimhen-might-not-be-fit-for-napoli-barcelona/

Victor Osimhen was in the stands for the draw with Genoa and Walter Mazzarri warns he ‘might not’ be ready to face Barcelona either, as reports emerge of Napoli tension over his fitness.

The striker has not been with his teammates at club level since the end of December, as he flew out to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.

He only scored one goal and helped his side reach the Final, where they capitulated 2-1 to the Ivory Coast.

Despite the Final being last Sunday, Osimhen did not return to Naples until late Thursday evening after missing a flight and his first training session was on Friday.

Last season’s Capocannoniere was not even in the squad for today’s 1-1 draw with Genoa and there are reports in Sky Sport Italia, DAZN and Il Mattino claiming that it was Osimhen who asked to be excluded.

However, this does not seem to be any empty gesture, because Mazzarri warned to DAZN that Osimhen “might not” be ready to play against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday either.

“We can only hope he can be ready, but his presence is not certain. According to him and the medical staff, he’s nowhere near fully fit, he has some muscular issues.

“After the Africa Cup of Nations, it would’ve been silly to risk him here and risk losing him for another couple of months. He will train tomorrow and we hope to have him ready for Barcelona.”

Speaking in his role as Sky Sport Italia pundit, journalist Paolo Condò criticised Napoli for not providing Osimhen with a private jet to bring him back to Italy several days ago.

Jorrel Hato - I’ve mentioned interest from Arsenal in Jorrel Hato multiple times because they’ve been scouting him for months, but it’s also the same for other European top clubs. Hato is also set to sign new deal at Ajax very soon, it’s a matter of final details; and it will include NO release clause, from what I’m told.

Xabi Alonso - Despite links with Bayern Munich as well as Liverpool, I think Alonso deserves a chance in the Premier League, that kind of league is probably the best one for the Bayer Leverkusen boss right now. But for the time being he’s 100% focused on making history at Leverkusen - there’s no time for distractions right now.

Gleison Bremer - Despite some speculation over his future, Bremer signed new deal at Juventus in December, it was just six weeks ago. They love Bremer at Juventus. Still, as always for Italian clubs, things can change if they receive crazy proposals, so let’s wait for the summer and see if some crazy bids comes in.
