Maybe its all a ruse to get Dembele to re-sign on lower wages...

It feels Dembele is sat somewhere in the middle of all this.

The bid for Raphinha last night from us seemed to be a statement to Dembele that we won't get strung along, and in turn Barca's posturing today might be similar.

Either way it feels that Dembele has completely lost any leverage in negotiating with either club. He almost appears to be the runners up prize now.

Why would we bid such a huge amount without knowing with 100% certainty that the player fancied it? As I wondered about before, personal terms are usually a formality.

Now it’ll be a massive embarrassment if we bid, had it accepted by Leeds, and then the player chooses a completely broke, dusted Barca who are a shell of themselves instead.

Assuming Sterling is still being sought, I wonder who we’d target as the second wide player of Raphinha fails? The Dembele link seems to have died.

Raphinha’s work rate and directness are huge reasons why he’s perfect. There aren’t really many other options that are similar.

Not surprised attackers aren't really excited to come here at the moment. Obviously with our status and money we will get some players but I can understand the skepticism for someone like Raphina.  Literally no one who signed here improved and the tactics aren't great for attacking players. Tuchel noted that we don't plan on changing anything so let's see if anything improves, still think TT has a lot of questions to answer regardless of who we end up with.
