I’d rather sign an awesome #10 like Fermín than some random striker who will be benched and given the Jackson treatment once Delap is back fully fit. Unless Delap’s injury is much worse than initially feared and he’s going to be out most of the season then buying another striker feels very shortsighted. We did not plan on Delap picking up a hamstring injury and now that he has, we have to put the club first. We are not United, playing in only one major trophy this season. We are competing on all 4 fronts. Having Pedro as our only out and out striker is bonkers. That is if you even consider Pedro as an out and out striker. Depth is key. Arsenal already have three of their key men injured last season in Havertz, Odegaard and Saka, but people think they have a chance of picking up something against Liverpool. You know why? Because of their depth and they learned from their mistakes from previous seasons. No time for sympathy because when our injuries pile up, we will be kicking ourselves for not putting club first. As harsh as it is on Jackson I’d rather bring him back than spend money on some random striker who we had zero interest in 24 hours ago. I'm sure we can cope with 1 good CF for what 6-8 games..add in "false 9's" and those in youth ranks if required. It may be that we have given up on signing anyone for depth at 10 so see Pedro for that role again,but suitable depth at 9 is a far smaller talent pool.
