The contract they offered to Mount that he sat on was reported to be the same deal that Reece James accepted. Mount wanted more. He overplayed his value, or his father did, and the deal was taken away. It is not the same situation as Conor, nor are they the same players or value to the club.

Remember vaguely that the issue with Mount wasn't the contract, but the fact he was on the lower side for a very long time compared to his starting XI teammates esp after the CL win.
Players and agents think about wage-over-time, which certainly makes sense given their short careers.
As I wrote earlier, I think Conor has to do quite a bit to achieve what Mount did, but the similarities regarding the deal esp timing wise are intriguing.

Gallagher has never come close to Mount’s best levels and none of us were all that bothered when we sold Mase. I don’t know why there’s so much uproar about this saga.

Imagine this forum if we were going to buy Connor for the 50m some on here think he's worth, the shit would hit the fan.

Yeah I was one of the few who truly rated him even when he wasn't firing in all cylinders.

On the other hand, maybe the club noticed a physical decline that seems to be lingering on at least as of last season. If that situation remains, club did very very well selling him at the time and for that amount; it's still a bit soon to know for sure.

CL knockout run aside (which is just 7 games) I don't see much difference.

Just reread what you just posted.... 🙂 "aside from being a key player in a CL win... nope did not do much."

Players go through entire careers and don't have those 7 games he had scoring against Real Madrid and assisting the final.
Been there before -- we seem to value these big performances very differently.

Are people saying he is a £50m player and would want to buy him for such a sum, or are they saying they don't see him being much worse than those that we are buying and the contract he has been given shows the club do not value him? Big difference.

Kicking off at 30 to 35m selling price, so yeah, complain all season long, now kick off he's going to be sold when the majority here werr asking for this all season, now they have there wish, even worse is complaining then saying he's worth more and club treating him like shit for actually offering him a contract which he refused so now that's the clubs fault.... People need to grow the fuck up and stop whining like little girls about shit they asked for in the first place, don't ask for cake then refuse to fucking eat it.

Nail on head. But you cant argue with stupidity it would seem.

People have definitely got their head in the sand when it comes to this ownership & sporting directors.

Cannot wait to these cunts sell up.

Nail on the head in your opinion, and arguing with stupidity? Why? Because people have a different opinion to your self so they are stupid? do you have any idea how arrogant that is? What makes your opinion right and others wrong especially when all opinions are based on feelings, stupidity would be expecting every one to agree with u at all times and not thinking the way you think must make them stupid?

Also, just for historical accuracy, in the 21/22 PL he had 11 goals and 10 assists in 32 matches.
So, the narrative that he "only" had those 7 CL games is pretty much incorrect.

On the other hand, if his current form and fitness are his norm, then the club was right in not making the effort to renew his deal.

Conor hasn't really done a whole lot for the club any way you look at it.

Maybe comes across as arrogant but regarding the Gallagher situation, how people cannot or will not see that the whole saga this past 12 months and more so this 2+1 contract offer is a ploy to strengthen the clubs position so they can actively try to offload/force the player to leave is beyond me. Like it really is.

And even signing KDH & Tosin also when we have Gallagher & Trev, as King Kante said these aren’t upgrades. These are just needless signings. We already have these calibre of players on the books who in all likelihood would be squad players so whats the need? Theres so many more pressing concerns in the squad that keep being neglected.

But folk have already fallen for enough with these guys so suppose shouldn’t expect any less. As you can see on here, this has already got a lot of folk thinking Gallagher is in the wrong for rejecting what you could say is an embarrassing/disrespectful contract offer with regards to the duration. Or that he should even be grateful in the fucking first place. If this is how academy players were treated at any other clubs, we would be laughing and being hugely critical of those clubs. Club is becoming a laughing stock.

Tbh as far as laughing stock goes, most opposite fans I speak to, and working on building sites is alot of different supports from lots of clubs actually like what we are doing and see us as a huge threat.

People keep referencing the contract offered as 'not valuing him' but they offered to make him one of the highest paid midfielders at the club and these are reports coming from Ornstein, Romano.

There's every chance they could have offered him a nice 5 year deal (as most of the people here are mentioning) but there's no guarantee that they would have given those sorts of wages.

Yes but do people actually think he’s rejected the deals due to the money? 😳😂

Lets be frank, clubs don’t normally offer someone a long term deal then accept a £50m bid from a club for them weeks later. Not if they really want to keep the player.

And then when the player rejects their proposal and the player doesn’t want to move, they don’t go from talking about renewing the player on a long term deal to making another offer of a 2 year fixed deal with an optional 3rd year…. The guys 24 years old not 32.

The financial package, that story was coincidentally mentioned by various journalists with close links to the club at the same time as the Atletico story broke. Have the club put this info out and trying to make it look like they’ve done all they can to save face when he inevitably leaves? I think so.

Or clubs offered him the contract he said no, so they accepted a bid........

Yes sure because a 2 year deal is a serious and respectable offer to make to a 24 year old player who was ever present last season captaining the side on multiple occasions. Nothing to do with he is someone they’ve been actively trying to sell…

Although maybe thats Clownlakes new policy now? Going from offering 5-7 year deals with the option of another year, to 2 year deals with the option of another year.
