I knew when we sold Guehi a few seasons back that he would turn into a solid defender, he had that natural leadership trait as well (like a John Terry/Gary Cahill type).  To think we had the likes of Tomori, Guehi, Livramento through the academy and none of them were really given consistent opportunities.

Livramento saw it would be tough to dislodge James and left. But Tomori and Guehi were avoidable sales, especially without buyback clauses.

Tomori I don't care about, he's shining in a league that makes Chris smalling look world class.

The main argument against these no-names with minimal goal records imo is actually Broja, a player who I've argued is not good enough and probably never will be for Chelsea.

I am no scout but I don't really see with any clarity that these targets are better than Broja. He also has amazing physical attributes. Duran to be fair looks like potentially an epic finisher on his left foot which might be an asset. But Fofana aint too bad at finishing is he, if that's all we want?

I think it was always going to be frustrating, especially with the euros as well.

Plus recent transfer windows have been insane with us over spending and being too desperate. We're in a different situation now with the squad mostly built.

Villa want Maatsen,we have interest in Duran..valued around the same price.Maatsen more experience/established but Forward more a prime position. Don't see why we don't offer them a straight swap.

And possibly offer release clause for Guirassy.two forwards for 18m + LB that isnt gonna play for us anymore. Jackson can compete for multiple spots in the front 3. Could argue why not just get Guirassy but then every Afcon we'd be missing all our CF's.

Still cannot believe we are selling Maatsen but yet scratching around for another LB, I'd play over Cinderella

Yeah, I just don’t get us selling him unless we’re desperate for the money. But with Chalobah and others likely going I don’t know if that’s the case.

I really like Chilwell but think he should be the prime LB on our books that we should be shopping around simply due to his repeated injury layoffs. Maatsen should be our starter and long term solution at LB and we don’t have to spend a penny.

He is nailed on to be the next Guehi type where we watch him doing super well at another PL club and wonder why the hell we sold him.
