I'll eat my shoe if we get more than 20m for Broja.

£20m would be a miracle, unless he actually finally does something in his career. He is 22 and turns 23 in summer. He will probably end up playing in the Championship and have a reasonable career there and maybe get a few years in the PL later in his career, by which time maybe he has developed enough to get 10-ish goals a season.

Chelsea put £50m price tag on striker Armando Broja

This was just 4 months ago. You don't get 4m loan fee for half a season for someone worth 20m.

WH was also interested, Wolves, some Italian clubs. Problem is he didn't play this season plus injuries before. In Southampton he showed he can score goals in PL. It would be best another loan next season where he will play to increase value. And after that we can easily demand 35m or something.

That loan fee was actually a penalty fee if Broja didn't get a certain amount of minutes. Broja was expected to play until Muniz hit some good form.

Broja is a striker who suffered a horrific knee injury and has stagnated/regressed ever since. In contrast, we got Jackson for less than what we are demanding for Broja, and with PSR now in full affect clubs are going to be a lot smarter with their spending.

But if he played he would increase his value and be sold for a lot of money. Club knew what they were doing. Protecting themselves.

Right, but this only furthers my point that Broja's valuation has regressed massively.

I would say a fair valuation of him is 15-20m.

As MoroccanBlue has posted, there was no fee for Broja, because no one would pay one. And us putting some random price tag on him means nothing also, we have tried this with lots of players and got no where near it, it is just a negotiation tactic. Clubs will be interested if he is cheap enough, but none of these clubs are going to spend more than £20m on him up until he actually does something to deserve it. He's done nothing to earn it. You mentioned his stint at Southampton in the PL where as a striker he scored 6 goals. Lets get real. He needs to start scoring goals again if he is going to even fetch £20m. If he does and hit a little run of form going into some transfer window or another maybe we can get £30m/£35m in the future, but certainly not now.

Broja can probably be sold for about 15m. If we decide to loan him again and he scores 15 goals in the prem, his price will go up to about 30mil. If he doesn't play or doesn't score he will be worth 5 mil max. I don't believe the risk is worth it. If it isn't part of some clever accounting sell him this summer even for 12-13mil.

I think of all the players, Broja is the one with most upside if we keep and he has a decent season on loan. As you say, currently he is £10m-£15m, however if he has one decent season where he knocks in a few he adds £15-£35m to his price owing to him being a CF and on fairly cheap wages.

In my opinion he should be either sent to Germany - where they play wide open football - of Soton if they come back up. Another option in the PL may be Ipswich as he is probably still better than Moore. However, the would require us to do something like sell Hutchinson to Ipswich for say £20m with a £25m buyback/first refusal - which actually probably makes more FFP sense than loaning again.

I welcome this Brazilian buying. Get ahead of the curve and buy the next amazing generation.

We always seem to want to buy the international squad of the players that are on the way out of their golden generation.

I like the ambition too. willingness to take risks, to buck the trend of top South American talent going to real and Barca only.
Brazilian football has adapted to how the game has changed. Brazil has always produced great attacking talent but when you look at the quality of goalkeepers and defenders they have produced over the last 10 years they clearly have learned you can’t win a World Cup only with world class attackers anymore .

Right now I think France and England have the highest density of emerging talent in world football but they also command inflated premiums as soon as they a few games in a European league under their belt. A good scout may find an equally talented player in SA for a discount. No clue if these guys mentioned here are indeed the real deal but it is hardly more speculative than splashing out 80m+ on unproven or injury prone European players like mudryk and fofana already in their early 20s.

Hear me out Son for LW - Experienced can score will have a year left on his contract in June. Will likely never happen but that could fix a lot of our issues on that side.

Sounds like getting Sterling two years ago...

he will likely want a 3 year contract, IF he would even come, meaning he turns 35 a week after it runs out (so has basically zero value)
