Lesly has 2 full seasons of Ligue 1. Why would we send him on loan over Santos?

At the time we hadn't seen anything from him because he was brought in late and Santos showed more that we good tangibly see in preseason.

People expect player who played 6 games in top flight Brazilian league to walk into Chelsea team. And then they are cursing at owners for playing only inexeperienced kid. Ugochukwu isn't great signing also, but decision to keep him and loan Santos out was reasonable at that time.

I have seen almost nothing on the other guys, but Ousame Diomande would be another lackluster signing.

He is, was getting destroyed by Atalanta. We need Silva not this fraud.

So far he failed in 2 of 2 loans, of course you can try to turn it around as much as you want but if he was so good he would surely get a chance.

He joined Forrest when they were in dire need of midfielders, and within weeks of him joining, they brought several other midfielders with much more experience than him. A relegation candidate isn't going to throw a youngster in with no benefit to their own cause.

Just look at Fofana's two loan spells this season; he started one league game in Germany while he's already started five games for Burnley in a much harder league. Is he suddenly "good enough" now, or has he just been given a chance to show what he can offer?

I really don't know how Santos' career will unfold over the next few years; however, the reasoning you've provided for his lack of game time doesn't suffice. If he had gone to Portugal in the summer, he would have certainly been in a better position than he is now.

That's not true - he started 7 games in Bundesliga. And it's still a long way for him to say he is worthy playing for top club (like we want Chelsea to be).

As to Santos - if player fails one loan, it may be accident, if he is failing his second it starts to look like he is not good enough.

I wrote one thing while thinking of another, so thanks for the correction. What I meant to say was that he's started that many games at Burnley and played for the entirety of the match. That aside, we need to come to terms that "top club" and Chelsea don't go together at this moment in time; just look at half of the players that are regulars. If he manages to hit double figures during his brief spell, there should be no question he deserves a chance, provided we don't spend big on Osimhen, etc.

Once again, how can you fail if you're never given a proper chance? Strasbourg are fighting for their lives, yet he's seemingly not good enough, in your opinion. If a player in their mid teens plays 49 games in just over a year and then is called up to the SENIOR Brazilian NT, I'd like to think there's something about him that these two clubs haven't noticed other than his lack of ability.

Interest in Osimhen is strong but there’s no ‘race’ for him - yet

Guys, there's nothing new on Victor Osimhen so far despite reports that Arsenal are ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign him.

There is no ‘moving ahead’ because it's not a proper race. There's no negotiation with Napoli as there's a release clause, so it's about paying that money and reaching an agreement with Osimhen. At the moment no club is close to that.

Interest from various clubs has been there for months, but at the moment we're not any further along in the story.

With Datro Fofana starting to blow up in the EPL, I am becoming less and less enthralled with dropping crazy money on a CF

we need to go all out on CBs and FBs, plus wingers (especially LW)

clean out the trash!!!!

especially Sterling, who is sucking up an insane £18+m per year

New Napoli deal almost ready for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Also, there have been many rumours regarding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who remains a crucial player for Napoli. He's doing very well in recent weeks after a difficult first part of the season, and he said in an interview this week in a very clear way that he isn't discussing anything with Napoli - so the point is very clear.

Napoli’s expectation is for Victor Osimhen to leave the club in the summer and for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to extend his contract. The Italian team wants to get the new deal done as soon as possible, with the player’s agent saying everything will be clear by the end of May.

It’s crucial for the Partnopei to close this new deal quickly, otherwise there could be a dangerous situation that develops in the summer.

That’s because there is interest from many clubs - Barcelona, clubs in England and others - but nothing is concrete at the moment.

Insane stat of the week

the career TOTAL money spent on Olivier Giroud transfers

£29m

that for a player who will likely end up with 500 or so total goals produced for club and country, depending on how long he keeps going (375 or so goals and 140 to 150 or so assists for club and country (this season, on a full season (granted at his age he can no longer play 3800 plus minutes) minutes projection, he is tracking to around 21 goals and around 14 assists just for AC Milan, plus he has 4 goals and 2 assists for France)
