Seriously, though, I wonder what the plan is if they do decide to walk away. If Mount sticks to his guns without wavering and absolutely refuses to sign a new contract in order to walk for free it does fuck us pretty hard. We may want to bleed them for £60m but the £50m they offered this morning is still better than £0 next summer. And that’s £50m of pure profit on the books.

They wont walk away. Both sides want it done. There is a Euro next summer so Mount cant risk rotting on the bench for 1 year so will urge United to sign him. And United also wants to get this deal done. Finding a replacement target and starting all this negotiating process all over again takes a lot of time, and this new addition wouldnt be able to start preseason with the rest of the team which they clearly want from Mount.

They started with 40m we wanted 70m. After that they offered 50m and we wanted 65m. Their latest offer is 50+5 and we are at 58+7. So very small difference. It's stupid deal to collapse over 5m.

At this point couldn't Mount just have a deal with united by receiving a portion of that money instead of us? like getting higher signing bonus because United did not have to pay? Yeah he would end up in limbo for a bit, which could hurt his international career, so that's the only leverage at play here.

Still, it warms my heart seeing so many people concerned about Boehly's money.

Sell to our sister club, he remains our player and comes back when we want. There he plays and increases his value.

If datro goes there, i believe we cant loan another player there so will have to be a paid trasfer with a buyback

I’d like to think that if Caicedo is as keen on coming here as reports say and that he has all but agreed personal terms he wouldn’t then agree to go to United if they walk away from Mount. And I’d also like to think that our club negotiators won’t fuck us out of our primary midfield target by overplaying their hand in these negotiations.
