Alonso as a backup isn't horrific. The problem was last season losing Chilwell less than half way through and fully reliant on Alonso to then play pretty much every game from there on.

If a crystal ball could tell me Chilwell won't suffer any lasting effects from his injury and won't suffer any further major injuries this season, I wouldn't be that bothered keeping Alonso as backup to him for one last year. 

I'm more concerned we sell Alonso and just keep Emerson as the backup as he's a lot worse.
