Havertz is no where near Hazard's level when he was with us, both in footballing ability or marketability. We too are a much wealthier club that didn't need to sell to buy players. So I expect people to bleed when they come to buy Chelsea's best player while Ajax, Liepzeg and Leverkusen best players should go for less.

And currently we are fortunate that the pandemic has prevented a bidding war, which has given us an advantage. Wouldn't it be smart to press our advantage (because of the pandemic) rather than act like all is back to normal.

The point is Hazard was our star player, just like Havertz is for Leverkusen. Hazard was bought as a finished article while Havertz is being bought for his talent and potential. Different point of their career but it's similar in some sense. And again, it doesn't matter if it is a big club or a lesser club, you can't expect the selling club not to maximize the deal and get as much money as possible for themselves. It's arrogant to think that just because Leverkusen aren't a big club, they should sell their best player only for XX amount. Also while Leverkusen won't be getting the Champions League money, I don't think their financial situation is terrible enough that they desperately need money and will sell players on the cheap. If they had it their way, they would have preferred to keep Havertz for another season. He could lead them back to the Champions League next season, Leverkusen get the money as well as a big fee for Havertz.

I don't know, maybe I'm just thinking too business like but saving 10-15 mil could be the difference between keeping Kepa for another season and buying a fresh goalkeeper.

This could be offset by selling some of the other deadwoods. Plus, we still need to get rid of Kepa first. There seems to be no takers at the moment.

This looks even more promising - from The Sun. Bridging the gap nicely between the £77m and £90m - got to be close now, feels like an announcement this week surely...

KAI GETTING CLOSER?

Chelsea HAVE made an improved offer above the £77million they initially thrust under the noses of Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports.

The Blues are hoping to get a deal for less than the £90m valuation the Bundesliga side have on the 21-year-old.

Leverkusen have reportedly lowered their asking price to £86m, giving Chelsea the chance to make the next move.

Jan Aage Fjortoft tweeted: “Havertz latest.

“Chelsea have offered 85 mill Euro. Leverkusen will accept 95 mill. Negotiations ongoing.”

Kind of Bakayoko saga :P

I hope he doesn't play like him lol.

Loool.... Bakayoko can only wish for the sheer talent and technique of Havertz.

Havertz will definitely succeed, his movement off the ball and decision making on the ball is world class and those are what separates a good player from a great player.
