I always said that about Ramires, and why I never bother in keeping him. Mikel is just an enigma, he did good today but there is no consistency. he needs a run in the team to get the consistency, even if he has an average match one day. Hiddink, is the only manager who in the past has given him a serious run of matches rather than the 'in for 1 or 2', out for '3 or 4' with sometimes an appearance from the bench others seemed to do with him. Ancelotti as well, tbf (I know his hand was forced with Essien's injury problems but still). That Ballack - Mikel - Lampard midfield was pretty effective. Â Unfortunately, teams started marking him out of the match and Scolari had no plan B.
Popular Post! Henrique 9,133 Posted January 14, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted January 14, 2016 Everybody knows Mikel is a limited player. The fact at the moment he is the best DM of this team speaks loud about the quality of this squad. He lacks consistence. During the first half WB bossed the mid, but MIkel improved in the 2nd half and was playing really well, but he and Matic are to blame for the 2nd goal. This team need 2 DM in the summer. No doubt about it, but I bet the team will het 2 strikers, 4 attacking midfielders and 10 wingers, and this team will start 16/17 season with Ramires, Mikel and Matic. Jase 43,479
It appears Mikel has gone back to his usual shit self. We only get 1 good Mikel in 10 games.
OneMoSalah 8,886
Barkley caught him and Matic out too often but I think Matic was pretty piss poor today as well. Mikel wasn't great either obviously but I think we are better off using him next to Cesc right now than Matic. BlueLion.
Special Juan 28,141
Barkley had him on toast today, his sell buy date expired about 3 years but he's like a fucking crouton....and we are suffering for it.

bababoom 4,478
I like the fact that he's composed on the ball and able to pass quickly  (unlike Matic) but Jesus for a defensive midfielder he's poor at defending when we're not sitting deep. Just so slow and lethargic, It was so easy for Barkley to turn him.

Muzchap 8,966
I know in there past I have been critical of Mikel, especially when watching him play for his country, he seemed so dynamic then and so utterly ridiculous for us, but since Guus has arrived - just WOW at his transformation! Im now sitting here feeling so sorry for the lad, having this type of performance in his locker all along and never being allowed to use it. I honestly think he's a contender for Player of the season right now. I know, that's a massive turnaround - but he has been simply amazing, like a new signing. Yes, occasionally he still lets people ghost past him - but that's just how he is. So can't beat him up too much on that - when he offers so much more in midfield. Guus has resurrected his career from nowhere
BlueLyon 9,359
If only he was quicker and more agile and had better reactions...it takes eternity for him to turn 180 degrees. Â But as I know he was AM as young player and I guess that is stopping him from ever being realy top DM. But he was quite good past few games. Does simple things and does them well.
