Our games against Brighton and Arsenal are postponed.

CWC comes for us exactly after our winter break.

Mendy is coming directly from AFCON.

Carabao Cup final is 2 weeks after CWC final so hopefully we win 2 trophies in February.

With everything now seemingly set in stone, which games is Mendy expected to miss due to AFCON?

I think he will play against Liverpool on 2nd January and after that he is gone.

So he will miss:

2 PL games against City and Spurs.

3rd round of FA Cup. Also 4th if Senegal reach semi final/final.

Potential two semi final games in Carabao Cup.

Truth being told Kepa would play all these Cup games anyway. So basically Mendy will miss just 2 PL games. We already beat Spurs with Kepa this season so AFCON will not be a problem for us at all.

It is two tough league games though, you have to expect Conte will have Spurs in better condition by then and City away will be the hardest test on paper of the season.

I did read somewhere that countries can call the players up I think a week before at their discretion so there is the possibility he misses Liverpool but then I guess on the flip side they would also lose Mane in that situation and possibly Salah.

I read the ACON players maybe leaving after boxing day so Edou will miss Liverpool, although ofcourse that means so will Mane and Salah.

I choose all 3 out vs all 3 playing every day. So even better for us. They are losing by far 2 best goalscorers and maybe best player in the world at the moment while we have so good defense that our GK is so much protected.

Kepa has been good this season and for example at Anfield all Mendy had to do is save 2 easy shots from 30m...

I’ve not seen it mentioned anywhere but is anyone else concerned about the possible effect on our long term stability of things going on in Ukraine ? We have a Russian owner who is apparently very close to Putin. Roman could be hit with all sorts of business and personal sanctions in the coming months. Could this change his desire to own a football club in the U.K. He has been a great owner for our club, I hope that doesn’t change, but  am I alone in being worried ?

So far it is an amazing job that our administration has done with this transition, including Tuchel. The team just keeps moving forward with a sale looming and several players misfiring all season long. What a great run club. Contrast that with Man Utd fans starting to agree this is one of their low points in many years.

Most goal involvements from midfielders in PL history:

Frank Lampard: 279 (️177 🎯102)
Steven Gerrard: 212 (️120 🎯92)
Paul Scholes: 162 (️107 🎯55)
Cesc Fabregas: 161 (️50 🎯111)
David Silva: 153 (️60 🎯93)
David Beckham 142 (️62 🎯80)

Lampard in a league of his own
