Krzysztof Piatek

The first was a clinical strikers goal after a defensive error by Napoli but the second one was sublime, holding off two defenders and scoring from a difficult angle. Superb goal. Would have loved to take Piatek and not Higuain. Would have been cheaper in the end too. But yeah Sarri knows Higuain for whatever that's worth. Even if Higuain hits the ground running in his next game, it is stil a short term solution. Striker's like piatek are so overpirced nowadays, he was an absolute steal for 40m.

I'm sure more team would have gone for him, if he didn't have that dry spell.

Probably at the best place to continue his growth, though.

his dry spell was 4 games as starter, only 3 the full game, and one as sub, it lasted 20 days

since then he has 8 goals in 9 games

21 in 23 games

He failed to score against Juve, Milan, Inter & Napoli prior to his move too.

Reason you can see why the hype cooled down once the window opened.

Well, if we are comparing him to Higuain, Higs has scored one goal in the last 3 months, against SPAL, over a month ago now. 2 goals against top 9 (Sampdoria and Atalanta) teams

Failed to score against Juve, Napoli, Roma, Inter, Juve again.

Piatek has 6 goals against top 9 teams

Also, Genoa is pure shit for supporting cast compared to Milan. They have one player rated over £6.3m, a 21yo CF Christian Kouamé at £12.6m The entire squad, minus Piatek is worth about what Juve paid for CR7. Average value is £3.05m That is pretty close to what the market would return on the players they have, as they have no vastly undervalued young stars now, other than Kouamé. Finally it is actually even worse, as that valuation includes LOANED players, and EIGHT of their top 11 in value are on loan. If you subtract out the loaned players value, Genoa is worth as a team £51.5m, or around £7m LESS than we just paid for Pulisic.

Milan is valued at £414m, and market true price would be close to 2/3rds of a billion quid, so average value per player would be around £23m, or to compare, £20m more per player than a typical Genoa teammate. After they buy Bakayoko, NONE of their players will be loanees, and the 2 main players they themselves have out on loan, with a combined real valuation of £50m more (Andre Silva, option for Sevilla who will exercise and Manuel Locatelli, mandatory buy for Sassuolo) will be purchased as part of the loan deals.

I certainly wasn't comparing him to Higuain. Just replying to someone that mentioned him as a better fit.

Any player "new to the scene" should have an entire season under their belt at least. Far too many one season wonders over the last decade.

Problem is if he continues like this he'll be 100m+ player very soon.

Seriously, are people gonna post 'we should have signed Piatek' every time he scores? It's perfectly understandable why the club didn't go for Piatek. As well as Piatek has done this season, it's still his first in Europe's top 5 leagues. For all we know, he could be a one season wonder. Remember Belotti? He scored 26 league goals in 2016/17 but then fell away with just 10 goals in 2017/18 and now just 7 in 2018/19. After seeing the likes of Morata, Batshuayi failed in recent seasons, we absolutely couldn't fail with the striker position and it's understandable why we went for Higuain instead, even if it's at best a short term solution. If Piatek does end up doing well at Milan, then fair play to him and if we want to get him then, it's more than possible given Milan's situation with Financial Fair Play. If not, there are still options elsewhere with Icardi or Werner.

But you know just how hard it will be for us to sign either Icardi or Werner. No matter how much WE as supporters would kill for them.  Thats even IF we can convince our amazingly fast, football minded Granny to get off her arse, cut her summer holiday short, and put a lowball in to say she tried to sign them.

Right now all we are looking at striker wise are 30+ giving them bloody 1 year contracts.

We are now supposedly looking to bring in Ivan Rakitic in the summer.

I would rather us have the ambition of trying to pull off a good futuire with a striker CURRENTLY on form, trying to look at our future. Than a string of 30+ for 1 year at a go.

Okay, it might be tough to sign Icardi but maybe not Werner, who has only 1 1/2 year left on his contract.

You know I'd kill for either but I would think we were in a long queue for him and not near the front of it.

And do you really think Granny could swing it? If so you have more faith in her than me Gunga Din.
