Absolutely not, I watched a few games of Drinkwater before he signed, it was quite clear he was level blow a top tier side. From a physical and technical standpoint. It is amazing he is actually worse than the very little I thought of him. I am honestly surprised reading the early pages where people rated him. I stand by it he is the worst signing ever, because he had so little potential.

i hated virtually every Conte signing for the exception of Rudigar.

When I said regular starter I meant in the context of Conte's system, even if he was successful he'd have probably still been dropped under Sarri with his technical demands.

This statement is surprisingly honest, not just usial media communication stuff. Kudos to him for that.

Indeed. It was one of the club's biggest blunders.

Assessing player's fitness is the most important aspects in the signing process. They should have investigated to find out whether he was an athlete or not--clearly not. That's the least that I expect at this level.

Thats horrific. You always gotta save your money while you are making it. I cant imagine him having to work again, but here we are.

How is that even possible? His 5 years long contract with Chelsea was worth over 30m. Don't know how much are taxes. But I think it's impossible that just 2 years later he is broke. Heard he had bad investment in restaurant in Manchester. But could be that he is just working for whatever reason not related to lack of money.

His contract may of been worth £30m over 5 years but 50-55% of that would be tax and national insurance easily. Not to mention as well theres either a club or PFA private pension which would be a percentage also like any other pension.

So £30m over 5 years after taxes etc is say around £2.75-3m a year. Thats a fucking lot of money for the majority of folk - I mean I’d give my left bollock for that - but there is a saying the more money you earn, the more money you spend.

On average these footballers will have extravagant houses, housing staff, other properties for their parents/siblings etc, probably have multiple top range/super cars, wives, children, ex girlfriends, mistresses, personal chefs, private school tuitions for their children…. god knows what else but footballers going broke or having to work more normal jobs after football is not that uncommon. I think this is why you see so many doing so much sponsorship work also to give them a bit more security and boost their income also.
