Still think he's the best man for us up top. Its his negative mindset that's dragging him down. The pressure of starting for a big club, the criticism from the media (and fans if he has been paying attention), and the refs here have gotten to him.

Its a vicious cycle, and I hope he can break free from it sooner rather than later. Needs a bit of luck and no doubt, a goal, in order to do so.

On the flip side this is karma at its best and if I wasnt Chelsea fan, I would laugh so hard.

Fans wanted Costa to fuck off and literaly shown no respect in summer. 

And they wanted someone "nicer" on the pitch, because Costa was apparently  all about cards and more of a trouble than good for this team. 

Now we are stuck with Morata who is actualy definition what fans said about Costa in summer; getting cards for no reason, doesnt help the team, doesnt give shit.

I told you Costa was fucking doctor for anyone we could get and he actualy liked playing for club despite antics in past. 

The situation was on Conte to blame, much like now with Luiz.

Oh god. We're in MARCH 2018 and people are still blaming the Costa saga on Conte?! Sure, Conte may not have handled the exit very well but how long more are people gonna pretend like Costa hadn't wanted to go back to Madrid for the past 2-3 years? Let's also ignore the fact that Costa decidedly went AWOL with his performances in the second half of last season after the interest from China.

Yeah Im grateful too. I was in my teens, so I was just lucky enough to catch football since 1999.

I mean, its not just about Chelsea players, but damn football had so many legends during 2000s. 

Brazil and French generations, the likes of Maldini, Zanetti, Buffon, Raul,...

And I had mad respect even for our rivals. Henry, Gerrard, Neville, Vidic, Vieira,...hands down some of my favourite players even if they played for rivals. They were not just top players but personalities who ooze class and you want to become like them. 

I seriously wonder what kids of today use as role models and how they appreciate opponents, when you have the likes of Pogba and Alexis...

And same with Chelsea. It would be much harder for me to fall in football love with Chelsea today compared to Terry, Lamps, Hasselbaink generation.

He wanted to leave in summer, but decided to stay. And then in january 2017 he was about to extend contract, but bust with Conte turned things around with Conte demanding his sale. 

You cant possibly defend Conte here mate. 

David Luiz had one bust with Conte too and look, he doesnt get a sniff anymore.

Its clear Conte doesnt give a shit. Its cool to show authority, but managers in big clubs have to know how to deal with big egos and solve the situation with talk. Simple. 

Besides it doesnt matter whose fault it was. What matters is that people acknowledge it was extremely stupid to sell Costa and we shouldnt have done it. Now we have to get someone else in the summer. AGAIN. 

Instead of time and resources we could spend on midfield or elsewhere, we will look for another striker again. 

Because we need quality striker, because for system we play, having prolific striker is absolute priority.

Was about to extend his contract? What?! There were reports about the club offering him a new contract but there was nothing or anything concrete that he was going to sign it.

Conte doesn't know how to handle big egos? He may had the bust-up with Costa last season - which was caused by the interest from China and an injury - but did he toss him aside immediately? No. He still managed to keep him onside when the situation looked like threatening our title challenge. As for Luiz, well, he's had his injury problems and Christensen has been doing well overall to keep him out of the XI.

Selling Costa may not have been ideal but I don't think it's the main issue here. The main problem, just like with previous transfers, is that we rarely find adequate replacements for the ones we sell. Maybe Morata might still come good in the end BUT as it has been mentioned, he doesn't look like a good replacement at all despite the good start.

This. I am tired of defending Conte on Costa saga. If a player want to leave and there is a interest from the other party and the price make sense, you sell him. 

People complained about Luiz at the same time complainining about how the young player in Chelsea is not given a chance. The fact that Christensen have been playing quite well so far does not mean anything

For me, I will judge Morata next season. His game is not suited to EPL at all, he lack physicality to play as target man in EPL. 

It is harder to find quality if you don't want to pay, plus it is hard to find player that suit Conte system. I wish that he can be more flexible. Having said that most of successful manager tend to play specific way.

It's not the physicality he's lacking, it's the mentality, he could stay on the feet instead of falling down, could fight for the ball whenever he wants, he doesn't lack muscule, he just doesn't wanna use it in playing, he's more interested in fighting around getting yellows. We had many bad strikers, but atleast no one was as annoying to watch as he is.

Selling a cunt is never a bad thing to do, the only thing that went bad is that we bought a bigger one, but that doesn't change the fact that Costa was annoying to watch and I'd still rather have any half decent striker who is actually interested in football, than the pricks that are Morata and Costa

Costa was the 2nd best Striker in the league though, and his heroics last season are a MAJOR reason why we won the league.

 

You have to be able to tolerate the eccentricities of the best players. Selling him to replace with a guy on the level of Morata was a huge downgrade.
