FROM AN ITALIAN FORUM
"After witnessing the resounding defeat of Chelsea in the West Ham home, I can not forget that this player is a dog. After the home team, scored with the duo Lanzini - Arnautovic who are the only two players of technical caliber that the Hammers have today fielded against Conte, the pressing of the blues becomes suffocating for West Ham who can not even exceed his area limit let alone the midfield circle. In all this domination, with Chelsea midfield acting TOTALLY undisturbed given the lack of high pressure of the opponents who are crushed close to their goalkeeper worried of the chelsea's strikers, all the his hidden talent comes out of these meters, fails miserably stops and controls of the ball very simply without even being under pressure from someone, try to be helpful to offensive but rather decisive maneuvers to gently rub the defenders of West Ham revealing even the total incapacity in the distant reliance on their physical (but oh well we talk about those who humiliated on the physical plane too from Pjanic and Dybala), the only thing that seems a success for everything is mediocre that is not able to do anything. Count on the bench is furious and the 45, without even the slightest sign of indecision, slams him off the field and makes him sit on the bench in favor of Pedro's entry into the field. Yet another lousy proof of the biggest package dropped in the last session of the market."

I can't watch him anymore, and being hauled off at HT says everything about him.

I'm surprised at people's reactions to Bakayoko.  Did everyone really expect him to become a class midfielder over night?

He is as raw as they come from the French League. Barely played two full seasons of senior football, gets a big money move to a top club and he's expected to be the new Matic.

As his former mentor (Makelele) mentioned in multiple interviews, Bakayoko has no discipline in his game, he'll never be a calm midfielder, ready to sit and recycle possession, he's unpredictable, he can do something brilliant then make an awful mistake straight after, he has a while to go before he becomes a consistent threat.

I expected to him to be able to control the ball and pass the ball 5 yards, he struggles with both.

At Monaco he was brilliant, and right now there are no excuses for his inability to even contribute one single thing. Like I always say I want to be proven wrong, but as it stands this bloke shouldn't even be considered starting anytime soon.

I would say: new league, no preseason and some new injury niggles, plus no rest at all for weeks because there were no other CMs (even though he just came back from a long term injury) could explain some of his problems at the moment.

I think his main problem is the pace of the league. He seems to need like half a second or so longer to make decisions. Bernardo Silva at City is having the same problem - but Pep is integrating him into his side slowly because he has a fantastic squad at City. Something we couldn’t have done here whatsoever.

The incompetence at this club is mind blowing sometimes. We signed an injured midfielder in Bakayoko - what do we decide to do again for his competition/cover? We sign an injured Drinkwater.

Should not be playing then, because we saw what happened at Anfield, even the basics he struggles with and his mistakes are leading to conceding a goal like we saw.

I get what you are saying, but IMO passing a ball 5-10 yards he's struggling with, he is not reading the game correctly and with this he's a liability.

Is it half a second longer to make decisions, or half a second longer to fully control the football? Isn't the latter more likely, that his first touch is not great and that his overall technique is making it harder to adjust to a faster paced league?

Players with better technique can more easily adapt to new leagues and their peculiarities.
