Tiemoue Bakayoko

He’s looked better for us in a MF 3 (Spurs and Atletico) than a MF 2. It’s clear he’s not a holding midfielder but a box to box midfielder. Like at Monaco he had Fabinho holding next to him. Kante is not a holding midfielder either but he is much more comfortable doing that than Bakayoko and Cesc well, he isn’t a holding midfielder either. Matic is more suited to a holding midfielder role, I think Matic and Bakayoko would of been a much better pairing tonight than Cesc and Bakayoko. Although Baka has a lot to show, he’s struggled a lot. He will come good at somepoint, he has potential but unfortunately he won’t surpass the standards of Matic who was key last season and throughout his time here.

IMO he can be at least as good as prime Matic but with better dribbling ability and more dynamic. And for longer period than Matic too.

That would be one damn great midfielder.

But Im sure fans here are like;

1.) Matic isnt good enough on the ball etc etc.

2.) Fans want new midfielder who can pass well and playmake etc and at same time defend

3.) We buy Bakayoko as simple Matic replacement in DM position

4.) Fans expect him to turn into next Iniesta, Yaya and Makelele combined.

____

Since we dont realy have playmaker apart from useless Cesc, fans demand Baka and Kante to turn super saiyan Iniesta, while their role is entirely different. Simply because we dont have quality playmaker, it doesnt mean they have to do that. Their job is DM and B2B, but obviously some idiots will be found saying those two aint creative enough, dont have vision or ball control of Xavi.

Yes Baka atm has atrocious ball control at times, aswell positioning and he should run more, but Pedro was shit too in his first year when the whole squad was shit, well this season isnt realy much different when it comes to players form compared to 2015/16.

Real fans dont expect Casemiro to play like Iniesta. But they have Modric and Kroos and everything ticks. We need our own Modric/Kroos for this team, thats it.

If we are solely reliant on Kante and yet Bakayoko can't play a simple ten yard pass then we are truly fucked. This wasn't just a last night thing, he's been rank bad most of the season, he's lauding about like a lazy bastard, hes got a real culture shock in this league if he thinks he can stroll about like a homeless man.

I believe that was Bakayoko & Fabregas's 5th start as a duo. 3 or 4 of those starts together lead to Bakayoko getting assists; something I don't think he's managed to do without Fabregas. We also won the majority of games that they started as a duo, despite it clearly not being a great pairing.
Bakayoko has definitely been bad outside of those 5 starts with Fabregas.

That's to say Fabregas is not the one to put under the microscope. For his own faults he is, but not for Baka's. Even alongside just Kante, Bakayoko doesn't transform into this next-Yaya-Toure box-to-box player.
He's been in a midfield 3 with us, and I believe he was in a midfield duo at Monaco, so what's holding him back? What have we not offered him? What is this godly trait Fabinho had to unlock him which can't be found across Kante/Fabregas/, & Drinkwater too no doubt?

He essentially has 6/7 players behind him at all times here; that should give him a lot of confidence to display his apparent abilities. But he doesn't. He hasn't once shown a good ability, only a good genetic trait, the fact that he's relatively strong. Not that he puts it to great use.

Fabregas is such a small minority part of Baka's lack of ability. Some players just aren't good enough and that's okay. What's not okay is the Chelsea policy of waiting 4-5 years to ship out players who've been bad or average for every single one of those years. Le board.:drunk:

The problem with Baka is simple he can't play alongside fabregas in midfield Duo I have been saying this since the Two have been paired up I just wish Conte can see this aswell :middlefinger::middlefinger:

Then who should play ? Kante is injured, drinkwater is not fit.

Again bad but the whole team’s been performing terribly for weeks now imo. This is why I said we shouldn’t be selling Matic for DD - TB coming back from a long injury only to be thrown into the side like that was bound to have these sort of performances happening. Plus the fact that he’s still raw as a player and needs time. Also, coupled with the fact that he’s possibly pairing up with one of the worst CMs in the world when it comes to defending or controlling a midfield battle atm...

Feel like he’s going to be scapegoated unfairly. Kante needed back ASAP - much better when he plays.

Shit is so unfair.

It's time to give Amambu a real chance. We'll probably lose anyway

Just no. Seriously have people seen Ampadu play bar a couple games with us? Good prospect but suggesting he should be thrown into the team against United is ludicrous. No manager in the world would do this.

His best performance so far.

I know he should do much better on finishing and decision making, but tonight for me he was game changing.

His run, his movement from midfield was really excellent today. Make manu defence confuse, distract their focus from morata. His presence on the midfield area also the best i seen from him so far. Finally he didnt make weird or sometimes even look like amateur mistake and being usefull there, not to forget he bullied matic because his presence and more mobile as midfielder.

Hopefully its sign from him, finally he can start to prove he is really good addition to our squad

Why’s this thread so quiet? What a promising performance that was from Bakayoko. Not surprised that happens now he had a competent midfield partner in Kanté.

Really needs to work on his finishing though. Could’ve had a couple goals today.

Yeah, he was much better than in previous few games. Made his presence felt this time, finishing is secondary for him but would be great if he could improve on that.

Seriously though....B2B role in 3 man midfield is what suits him. Kante shielding the defence, Fabregas doing the chance creation, and Bakayoko for the mayhem.

Would hesitate to say that its the same as Lampard-Essien-Makelele, but this works for me.
