So surely Real, PSG or whoever who is serious player has this knowledge too. Why would they push hard for player who out of TT and his setup is mediocre to say? Would premium wages vs no transfer fee really balance it out? I have an impression that big part of the fuss is some media game either from player or the club itself I could imagine PSG or Real don't even care about how Rüdiger looks outside this system. Their transfer policy basically is just throwing money at big names. If they can avoid another counterparty in the deal even better. Everybody with half a football brain could have said that e.g. Hazard never really fitted their playing style under Zidane but Real sign players first and ask questions later. They do it more for their brand than for thier
Pizy 18,916
This is the sort of saga I can’t recall us ever being in. Where a top player who both sides want to see stay here but a deal can’t be reached with only 1 year left on his contract. Feel pretty Arsenal like. Think Toni respects this club enough to never join a domestic rival so I’m not worried about that if he leaves. Can see him at PSG. For this to drag in so long though he must be asking something nuts for a club as rich as us to not offer. Is he asking for 300k a week or something? Would of been allowed to go too if he didn’t decide he wanted to fight for his place instead, which honestly did surprise me but kudos to him because his performances have been top quality. Whilst he’s a good figure and a popular player in the dressing room, lets not pretend players wouldn’t make these moves now a days. Cech, Willian and Luiz went to Arsenal. Zouma went to West Ham. If the guys settled in London and gets a nice offer, why would he not? Best case of action is still to do our best to keep him. Edited October 23, 2021 by OneMoSalah

Vesper 30,185
Two Premier League clubs "talking" to Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger about free transfer https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/antonio-rudiger-Chelsea-transfer-latest-25287811 Chelsea ace Antonio Rudiger is reportedly in discussions with four top European clubs - including two Premier League sides - over a potential move. The German defender's existing contract expires in June and he's yet to agree an extension with the European champions. It's believed the former Roma centre-back is struggling to negotiate a new contract with Chelsea, despite being a regular under manager Thomas Tuchel. Rudiger has made eight Premier League appearances for the Blues this term, started their Champions League final victory against City in May and is a firm fans' favourite at Stamford Bridge. According to Sky Italia's Gianluca di Marzio, Rudiger, 28, is currently in talks with Manchester City, Tottenham, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. He's also been linked with German giants Bayern Munich in recent weeks but played down speculation about his future earlier this month. Rudiger told the press: "Of course [Bayern's interest] honours me and proves that I've been doing things right. "But I don't let myself be distracted. I have an obligation to my club to perform well. I have to prove myself every game and not let myself be distracted by rumours. "I make my decisions for myself. They don't depend on anyone. I feel good where I am." As revealed by Mirror Football last month, Rudiger could leave Chelsea when his deal expires and earn a £400,000-a-week contract at his next club. But the Blues won't want to lose Rudiger, with Rio Ferdinand recently describing the defender as one of the best in the Premier League. The Manchester United icon said: "Since Tuchel has come I think he’s arguably been the best centre-back. "I think him and [Ruben] Dias would have been close but the effect he has had on his team has been immense. "Under Frank, it was evident he wasn’t Frank’s cup of tea. He didn’t really like him. There was rumours they were trying to put him in the market to be sold. "In Germany, he’s always been highly thought of. But when the manager doesn’t rate you and you can feel that, I don’t care who you are your confidence takes a beating and it’s hard to perform at that level." Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann also confessed his admiration of Rudiger last month. He told the press: "In principle I am no fan of talking about players who are under contract with other clubs while we are outside the transfer window. "But I'm talking about Rudiger as a football fan. He has made fantastic progress.

Strike 7,489
Completely our own fault letting the situation get this far. Rudiger, Christensen, Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva deals are running out next June and none look like they are signing a new one soon. Probably glancing at how Rudiger is negotiating and is also thinking differently. Honestly don't know what's making the club drag their feet. Hope the club isn't playing some game thinking they have more leverage than they actually do. Rudiger and Christensen are entering their prime years. They will look for a better deal Hope this is just another JT situation., where JT waited ages to sign a contract (obviously to get more money), but ultimately signed. MoroccanBlue 5,382
It's now at a point where we should simply abide to his demands. He's become absolutely crucial for us and can provide us at the very least 4-5 years of elite performances under Tuchel. Vesper and Blue Armour

Vesper 30,185
that Kai goal shows how a short defender gets burnt in the EPL in the air Walker-Peters (who has crazy vertical leap, he can dunk a basketball, I saw it in a pre-game special on spuds a while back) had no chance and he is only an inch, inch and half shorter or so than Kounde

If the attacker is this much taller he can just stand there and nick it In if the cross is good. You need optimal preparation and run up to exploit your full vert like in a dunk. No chance of this in game for defenders cos they are always the ones to react

Clockwork 1,794
He is replaceable, and he is making a big mistake from a footballing standpoint if signs somewhere else. If he wants to make a decision based on financial than he is better going.  As long as we have Mendy in goal, our superb midfield, and Tuchel defense we will be fine. And if we don’t have Tuchel, then there is no point of wanting Rudigar at Chelsea anyway. Magic Lamps
NikkiCFC 8,324
I noticed lately that he improved a lot his offensive play. Very often he is in the final 3rd and looks dangerous. After these situations he won pen against Malmo, assisted disallowed goal against Southampton to Lukaku... And this also proves it...
