The loan was a joke to start with, but we need a back up CF that has some experience. Remy should be sold, Falcao back off to France and Traore isn't a CF that will carry us (is a winger IMO).

At least Traore is on of ours, somewhat. He's young and he's trying, it's only a upward learning curve. Pato was never going to develop with us, the loan was absolutely nonsensical. I don't doubt those kia joorabchian links are true.

Sigh. Oh well, hopefully he'll be fine with being 3rd/4th choice. Whatever..

He is the real winner of this rumoured extension. Just hope the board make the right signings this summer and we won't be reliant on such players

Just goes to show the extent agents are running the game. He barely features under Hiddink so the man himself clearly didn't think much of this signing and Conte wasn't signed in Jan. Wonder who's real idea Pato was.

Emenalo, no doubt. Conte must be in favour for it to some extent. The board have made some very weird decisions and this just another one of them. Shows a shake up is needed IMO

Barely featured as he was sooooo outta shape :)

we have 'gambled' so many times on strikers - would be nice to see one pay off ?

I see this as good just as long as our second striker is someone like traore, solanke or such.

Because buying a good striker will kill any chances our youth will get.

So if we are going that way then good. If not then this is a very poor signing.

We'll need more strikers if Conte decides to play 4-4-2.

That's why it made no sense. Hiddink said he wouldn't probably be ready until April, incredibly stupid loan in a season where every player was needed and we sign one that needed over 12 weeks to get fit for action. It's not even a calculated gamble lmao, now based on a cameo appearance here and there we're going to occupy a squad role of him. Don't know why I'm surprised, we like to sign 'names' over actual talent and form.

12 mil down the drain. Keep up the good work board, full of legends. :)

If Jose had set reasonable targets, we would not be in the position of relying on Pato.

You fanboys are pathetic, it is well known that Emenalo opposed the Pato loan. These attempts to blame literally everything you don't like on Emenalo are childish.

He is understood to have objected to two of the more controversial signings of the January window: the taking of Alexandre Pato on loan, and the buying outright of Matt Miazga.

I'm the furthest from that. I commented about him as he seems to be the one doing the majority of business for us (bad deals in recent windows). Who bought Papy and Hector again?

P.S. Don't always believe what you read. [emoji106]

Tbf, he did have his moments in his last season here where he did look like a decent striker. Then again, that was in mostly in comparison with grandpa Etoo and #DareToDemba...

Eto'o was light years ahead of Torres, absolute light years.

Alexandre Pato waits on Chelsea, Corinthians decision

Quote

Alexandre Pato arrived at Chelsea in the closing days of the winter transfer window but needed two months of intense fitness training just to be able to make his debut.  The striker ended up playing just 2 matches, scoring a single goal from the penalty spot in his substitute appearance and missing two good chances in his lone start.Despite his general lack of production, Pato's future is far from obvious.  His loan at Chelsea is set to end next month, officially, but we do have a reported €12 million buy option.  Corinthians would prefer to sell, but are also open to having him back.  And so, we wait, alongside Pato's agent, Gilmar Veloz, for the two clubs to make up their minds.

"We don't know how it will be, since his contract lasts until [June] 30th. As for his purchase, this is between clubs. We will wait to see what Chelsea and Corinthians decide about it."-Gilmar Veloz; source: Globo Esporte

Corinthians' hopes of a sale lie in Chelsea's new manager Antonio Conte, who's been rumoured to favour Pato staying at Chelsea, though preliminary discussions are already ongoing.

"We will wait to see how things will go in regards to the manager [Antonio Conte], but it's obvious that we've been in talks [with Chelsea] already."-Edu Gaspar; Source: Globo Esporte

Pato's contract with Corinthians ends on December 31st, at which point he will be free to go to any other club on a free transfer. This explains part of Corinthians' desperation to sell the player, especially after spending R$43 million (around €10.9 million in current exchange rates) when they bought him from AC Milan in 2013.The Brazilian currency's weakness compared with the euro and the pound sterling might make Pato's wages and transfer fee more attractive in comparison with other players of the same status who are based in Europe, but the R$200,000 (around €50,200 in current exchange rates) weekly earnings from his deal with Corinthians are still the highest in the Brazilian leagues.Chelsea are basically Corinthians' last hope to recoup a decent chunk of the investment made in Pato.  Will Chelsea be the heroes they need, or will we be just a footnote in the 26-year-old's short yet already storied career.
