The Mourinho Thread

Every day that goes by I get the feeling that he is closer to Real Madrid than Man United. Madrid will probably get past Wolfsburg, but that's about it, can't see them going all the way. And frankly even if they did beat Barcelona a week ago, league is over for them. That will make it two seasons in a row w/o a single trophy. They will be in for major changes in the summer, no doubt about it.

While Man United, although they have not been at their best, Van Gaal has had to deal with lots of injuries during the entire season. Still, they are in for a Champions League spot and I get this feeling that if they are to finish in top 4, then Van Gaal will stay put for another season.

If he does get the Man United job more fools them from the outside looking in all the Mourinho apologists will soon realise what a twat the man is. Sell the best players, piss everyone one off from the tea lady to the lady doctor, spend huge amounts on second rate players hello Mr Cuadrado, rely on one player to win you the league but feel free to still slag him off even though if Hazard got injured last Christmas we would have won fuck all we limped over the line as it was. Can't wait for Conte because he accepts players as they are look at Oscar for fuck sake the special one took a potential massive talent into someone who makes James Milner look like Zidane.

I suppose he means the Board mate :) he knows us fans have always had his back and love him, as for Courtois if he did say that, he can fuck right back off to Belgium with Hazard.... We lost Cech to give him the first spot on the team sheet the first he can do is support the guy who gave him that spot.

He made mistakes, maybe wasn't as friendly as before. The press conferences were a bit grumpy, mhh.

Buying some light fast attacking wingers, that happens under Jose's watch, but there's a blindspot, back in the day Wright-Phillips wasn't good enough. That was the start, imo.

Speaking of mistakes, yes Kevin de Bruyne...

but apart from that, the likes of Willian, Costa, Fabregas, integrating Courtois... give credit where credit is due, imo.

Matic is a special case, one excellent year, we needed his stablity, i don't think his regression is solely on Jose, he himself is the main problem.

Jose won us 8 trophies in 5 years, i think some gratitude is needed.

I feel a lot of anger, but dividing the community is never a good thing.

I'm a big fan of his, of course i will keep tabs on how he's doing, but like most of squad here we all watch Chelsea, because that's what we are.

Yes, we try to find positive things to convince ourselves that Conte will be a success story, a even better one than Jose. But if he backs Oscar, the mood around here will change quickly, then you're in for a massive shock, because guns will be pointed at him.

Oscar's not shining under Hiddink so far, last season he was useful, mhh.

Sure, the board did make mistakes but you can't tell he he didn't have the board's backing. Almost everyone wanted him to stay at the club - he even got a 3-year contract extension! - but it's his antics (to put it kindly) that forced people to not want him. It's the same story wherever he's been and he's seriously deluded if he doesn't see the error of his ways yet.

Willian, Costa, Fabregas and Courtois have been inconsistent to say the least. Mourinho won trophies yes but at what cost?. He does what he always does and that is to burn his bridges wherever he goes. To take a championship winning team to the brink of the relegation zone is appalling who ever the manager is especially when your the self appointed '' Special One''.

Most of guys i know (fans of other clubs) would have gladly accepted an abymsal season but as the being the current champions.

We all fucked it up, some people are more to blame than others, Jose played his part.

He crossed a line, why did he do it?

It's a travesty what happened, he is a Chelsea man, belonged to us and the club, lost for words and still very sad about it.

I know it's easy to belittle him, i think it's direspectful, we don't talk shit about our goners, but whatever floats your boat, mhh.

Willian was never as poor as Fabregas and Costa. Sometimes he was frustrating in the final third, but his overall style of play was ok, imo.

Courtois had a serious injury and was out for months, yes, he should have protected his near post better, i agree,

but he has excuses, imo.

Should stop with the bad mouthing, but that's a different problem, nothing to do with his performances.

One can only hope for better times next season.

If you read the reports from the media at the time it is clear the board were prepared to spend a lot of money to support him. Unfortunately, transfers in real life are harder than in football manager. It's kinda sad that Jose fan boys like you have to lie to support Jose's failure.

If my memory serves me correctly, the media claimed we went after

Stones

Pogba

Koke

Griezman

Martial

Manolas

When Jose came to this club we had a poor central midfield, he spent a lot of money, and left us with a poor central midfield.

Sold our best young player and left us in a crap state.

Real genius this one.....

The way I see it is that he had to take a gamble on Oscar and Willian at the cost of Mata and KDB. Had Oscar improved over the years, while KDB had a similar outcome as Mata or Schurrle, then Jose would have looked like a genius.

Had he taken a gamble by choosing KDB and Willian, we'd be a better team now and he would have looked like a genius as well.

I'm not defending him, but it's almost impossible to keep 6 attacking midfielders happy in a single season.

I think people are angry that he chose the least talented with the least potential which was obvious to everyone, as his no.1 attacking midfielder.

It was obvious to some, not everyone. I clearly remember how some people were satisfied with Oscar scoring every game or two. And that statistics don't mean anything because he "fits the system" which was a reason that annoyed the shit out of me at the time.

I'm not saying this is the case in Oscar vs De Bruyne as Jose clearly made the wrong decision, but it's a bit unfair how you inverted commas the fit the system bit.

Real Madrid are probably the only club with world class players on every position and look were that gets them, honestly when things don't go their way they look truly horrendous.

Fergie mastered the art of system player's, Ji Sung Park and Darren Fletcher were not big stat whores or world class players by any stretch, but both played a vital role in bringing titles home, in fact Fergie use to put the latter on the opposition's most dangerous midfielder in big games (Gerrard vs Liverpool, Lampard vs us, Cesc vs Arsenal) and it worked.

SAF is the greatest of all time for a reason.

Yes, he used park-ji-sung, fletcher, o'shea, wes brown, and a lot of other bit-part players perfectly. But he used them occassionaly and for a big-game. He did not have park-ji-sung playing ahead of tevez/CR/Rooney to "provide balance" and "fit the system". SAF was popular for having huge squads and managing them efficiently to get the best out of every player. Jose on the other hand used 15-16 players all season long and if it were not for injuries and suspensions, he would have continued to play costa;hazard, oscar, willian;cesc, matic;azpi,JT, GC,Iva;courtois, which a slight variation of ramires in between. Jose's man-management in 13-14 was horrendous (he could/should have loaned out Kdb instead of moses at the start of the season itself, rather than forcing Kdb to make a move away from the club). And should not be compared to the likes of SAF.

I guess what I am trying to say is that, SAF changed his system according to the players and the team they were facing. Jose changed his players to suit the the system which clearly did not get the best out of the team.

Fletcher was actually a starter for three or so years before his unfortunate illness, and that's because Fergie appreciated what he brought the table, a purist would have chosen a more flashy player but not Fergie. He also regularly choose Valencia over a much more talented Nani team balance sake.

Also, he would never do anything that put the team in any sort of handicap, when he gave Ronaldo the free role, do you know how he compensated for the sake of the team balance? Two defensive midfielders, even at home to shit teams, because if he he didn't, there would be too much space for opposition to exploit on the break.

Rooney summed it up after Ronaldo left, he was asked if it was easier now Ronaldo left and he said not for him, but maybe the defense and midfield.
