Chelsea v PSG

Maybe but in these games, we can't take chances, can we? For all we know, we could be KOed because of one long glorious pass from Veratti. Every little detail will be important. Also, I doubt we're going to be on the front foot. Mourinho will probably allow PSG to do that since we have the away goal.

Lets be honest, Verratti is going to be too busy being a cunt making cuntish tackles and will probably (...ok hopefully) get himself sent off.

More concerned about Cavani and Ibra than Verratti, they had it far too easy in France especially second half.

you stop Verratti then it will be very hard for PSG to have any kind of control of the game.

PSG aren't just dependent on Verratti though, Thiago Motta, David Luiz, Cabaye are all players who can do the same. We concentrate too much on stopping Verratti and then Motta or Luiz or someone will do what he was doing and we will have the same problem. I think we should attack them this game, we let them come at us and it goes like in France then it will be a tough night, I am surprised they didn't get more than one goal that night.

Definitely need to stop the supply of crosses. Too many were put into the box in the first leg and we didn't even pressure the ball. Also worried with PSG targeting Azpi at the far post in this situation. Happened quite a bit in France. He's never going to beat Ibrahimovic or Cavani in the air.

yes because Verratti ran the game in the 2nd half, thats one of the main reasons they dominated the 2nd half, we gave Verratti too much time on the ball

By the way - 10 years ago today

Time really does fly...

What a good memories, for this times I was beginning to see European football, and of course, to support the Chelsea, I think that I saw that game but only have vague memories.
9 years old at this time, now the double ... as time passes.
Hoping that 10 years later, we live another night like this.

Verratti, Luiz, Matuidi... all three of them had too much time.

They cant do the same as Verratti, maybe Motta, but he isnt as dangerous, if Oscar does a job on Verratti, they will struggle

Yeah was quite a smart move by Blanc to put one of his stronger headers up against Azpi but even if we play Filipe Luis its the same problem so like you said, stopping the crosses is vital but it was obvious Mourinho was comfortable with PSG having the ball in France after getting the goal (like vs United, City in previous games) but I hope he sends us out to be a lot more offensive and positive.

To be honest, wouldn't necessarily call that a smart move. It was just the logical thing to do really and they nearly reaped the rewards from that approach. If we are going to let them have the ball again, then we can't let them create so many chances and clear cut ones like they did in the first leg.

I think this will be more tight match than people think. Psg is in good run, most of players returned and they will go on knife to beat us after last year.

Our advantage is that they played two games while we had whole week rest. And obviously SB, we play more comfortable there.

If we play to our strenghts, we will knock them out, if we put another average performance, it will make our lives alot harder.

They will still be without Moura who I think could've caused us loads of trouble. Motta looked awful on the weekend and probably will only play if needed. Luiz was fabulous in the holding role and will likely continue there..

Its not gonna be easy but I feel at home we are much harder to break down and PSG don't have any pace to trouble us anywhere on the pitch. If the game is slow and cagey it will obviously benefit us.

I think costa needs to improve his aerial ability...it is very frustating to watch him not winning headers even though he is physically capable..

--------------------Costa-------------------
Hazard---------Willian---------Ramires
-----------Matić----Fabregas--------
Azpi-------Terry------Cahill--------Iva
------------------Courtois------------------

we should not allow their midfield to have any time to play a pass....pressing veratti and luiz is vital..

The only thing that worries me is going for a 0-0. Our defense is very error-prone at the moment and its highly unlikely that we'll manage to keep a clean sheet trying to defend in the entire game. Another thing is our players not having the urgency because of the result we got in the first leg. This also happened in the 2nd leg vs Atleti last year where I thought we could have performed much better if we lost the first leg.

We can't give them time on the ball, if they space to roam and time to pass/shoot we are in deep trouble. The most important thing for us is to press effectively and I think at the end this makes a huge role in the result of the game.

Ideal situation is to get the first goal, and then try to control the game, waiting for lapses of concentration from PSG to get the second. Settling for the 1-0 and parking the bus is also very risky.

Very nervous for this match, one simple mistake and we could be out of the competition. But afterall, we're Chelsea and we've always been about giving our all fighting till the last second. Let's believe and we will be in the quarter final!

Iva-zouma-terry-azpi
Matic
Ramires - Fabregas
Willian - costa - Hazard

Let's play a 4-3-3 with Matic infront of the defense so that counterattacks will be easier for us. We should put zouma on ibrahimovic so that he doesn't turn to be a drogba against us again.
Hazard should scream anytime Verratti kicks him, so that he doesn't get injured from being too nice. And we can counterattack more when he isn't on the floor.
Costa should win headers to hold the ball up the field when we kick it in the air, we're not Barcelona, we can't only play on the ground.
The pitch is smaller so less space for PSG to be passing. We'll win if we use a 4-3-3 instead of 4-2-3-1
