Bit baffled by some of these comments. It was far from the likes of the Sunderland and Newcastle games, where we were passing it side to side, slow, with no runners anywhere. Today we actually got to the byline numerous times but the final ball wasn't there, and we just didn't get that bit of luck with the bounce (and they defended well).

Great 2nd half performance for me.

Bad performances can happen, as can disappointing results. What's more, I can live with them but I would like to believe that our decision makers are aware of the great myth about our situation; we certainly do not have the best squad in the league. We can't even put an XI on the pitch made up of Champion's League quality players, never mind the notion that we possess an entire squad of them.

There are a whole range of things we can take from Jose's comment that we will not be going into the market in January. Maybe we can't afford it, maybe it's misdirection and we will be shopping, perhaps it's that he has players lined up to arrive during the summer or maybe he hopes to plug the gaps with members of the development squad. Some of those are more likely than others but the one thing which is not at all likely in my opinion is that Jose could believe that we don't need reinforcements. Clearly we do need them, starting with 2 AMs. In my opinion this was already obvious back in the summer, now it has become the great big elephant in the room.

Absolutely :)

And stop bringing Drogba on - he offers nothing in these games - too slow now

Not very often then. Which is the point TX was making. Fergie's UTD were the masters of scoring late goals.

We did go through a few games of doing that under Jose years back...then went on a run of draws so didnt quite work out that well

.Seem to play to 90 mins then switch off.

When was the last time we won 5 games in the league in a row?? After every 4th win I always know some how a lose or a draw is coming because we over play players and we are too complacent, look at Man City, when they go on a run they go all out, 10 wins in a row and counting

There is no magic or mystery to this in my opinion. As far as I'm concerned it happens because City are a better side than us.

We've lost a 9 point lead, questions have to be asked.

Fine, ask questions in the relevant threads then, because the performance we put out today was good enough to win it, we were just very unlucky today. That 2nd half was the best we've played in some time (bar the West Ham game).

People having kittens and saying we were shit but I think the luck was clearly with them, not us. Southampton defended well enough and got at our defence at a very uncharacteristic moment of a lack of organisation. Also, when chances are few you would expect top quality refereeing to correctly judge such important moments as the pen, but it was an abysmal, abysmal decision. Fucking atrocious.

Maybe selection and subs could've been a bit better, but I felt we were ultimately robbed by piss-poor refereeing.

P.S. Ivanovic is a diving pansy and should be dropped indefinitely anytime he dives or goes down screaming like he's been shot (which he did today). The size of him - fucking man up.

Great 2nd half performance for me.

We play like we did in the 2nd half against Newcastle and Sunderland and we win those games for sure.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports: "I can believe Southampton defended with everything they have - with organisation, spirit and solidarity of players and the effort they fought to get the point.

"My players tried to win, especially in the second half. I can't understand such a big penalty [when Cesc Fabregas fell under the challenge of Matt Targett]. Out of nothing West Ham manager Sam Allardyce starts speaking about Chelsea players diving, then another coach and another coach. The referee changes a penalty for a yellow card.

"Same happened with Diego Costa in the game against Burnley. That I can't understand. A point is a point against a difficult team. There are doubts and doubts - a penalty like that, I will leave with that. The reality is there are penalties and penalties - this one was a huge one. Match after match coaches are telling Chelsea players are diving. I will go to the referee and wish him a good year and tell him he will be ashamed."

True :l

Thought that was the best we've played for a while in the league. Sloppy for the goal but they defended well to. Could've won easily but I can't complain about the performance.

best weve played for a while. and 1 shot on target. we really are in trouble

If we do not recover that winning mentality of Jose's first stint here, we will not win the title. City have Toure, Silva and soon also Agüero who love nothing more than a parked bus. They break those shit teams down with ease and when they don't they have Jovetic or Lampard coming off the fuckin bench and scoring the winner every time. Players like Fonte, Yoshida, Targett or Stephen fuckin Davis should not stop Hazard, Costa, Fabregas from scoring. We need more urgency all over the pitch.

The media is hyping us to be the perfectly balanced team, a machine head and shoulders above the rest. Maybe we are but our players obviously believe that bullshit and get complacent. Our lack of killer instinct has cost us today, cost us vs newcastle, Sunderland and is also the reason why we did not win either game in Manchester even though we were exactly that, head and shoulders above the opposition but did not have the balls nor the will nor the concentration to kill them off.

Despite that apparent lack of big game mentaity we have not played a bad first half of the season. In fact we played a very good one. 46 points after 19 games is a good even though not great feat. In every other season we would be 6 points up ahead. But this league will surrender to City game after game, which is why we will need at least 90 points to win the league, not the usual 86.

We got a young team a draw here is not the end of the world, but win this title and this can be the beginning of an era. We should not let our incapability to deliver when it matter become a dominant trait of us like it is for Arseanl. We are Chelsea! KTBFFH

We give away points against teams we are not suppose to. Sunderland Newcastle and now Southhampton!

Kind of story of our last season right?

Exactly what City wants.

The bitter truth is we still not ready for the title, we break against physical, defending aggressive bullying teams hostile environments away from home.

We will be up there at the end of the season but the title is for City to lose.

Oscar was a big miss today, no doubt about. His presence would have given us more options going forward.

And just to make a point, having both Mikel and Matic on the pitch for most of the game against a defensive-minded team is not how you win a game. Not sure what Mourinho thought about when coming up with that, but he clearly got it wrong with those tactics.

Also, it's now becoming noticeable again, that we're still failing to clinch crucial wins against smaller clubs away from home, just like last season. And that's what prevented us from winning the title. I understand Southampton are a well-managed high-flying dark horse at the moment, but they've succumbed to City, United, Arsenal and even Tottenham already this season.. yet it's Chelsea, who end up surrendering to their impenetrable defending.

Best start to a season for us. Not mocking that, but the same "stale cracks" are showing!

Cross the ball were? Since when does he cross the ball? And since when do our wide players cross? Is it not our fullbacks? And to who? One body (Costa?) in the box? Clueless....

Mixed up would and should. Just because our wide players don't cross the ball doesn't mean we shouldn't. I'm not always talking about high crosses either, Hazard just stops sometimes and waits for an opposition fullback to challenge him which doesn't always happen. Get your head out your arse calling other people clueless because they don't agree with your opinion.

Yes we lost a 9 point lead but you can't win EVERY game! There are going to be defeats and draws. City had a poor start to their season but have put a run together, did anyone really think we would run away with the league?

We are lucky it's only City breathing down our necks, everyone else has been awful this season.

The overreaction on here is incredible, we were phenomenal in the 2nd half but just very unlucky. That's just football sometimes.

We were brilliant, but still made no shot on goal in second half. This and the fact we already lost 7/8 points in less than a month.

Our performance was awesome, but result wasnt. And its all about results. United and City were large parts both shit when they won title, but they got results in the end. We are doing the opposite recently. One slip its OK, this is now third game away after Sunderland and newcastle where we lost points, not to mention both Manchester away games where we were leading.

We had brilliant start to season, but now we have lost all advantage. Yes its bit worrying because we still have another month of Swansea, tottenham away and newcastle, city at home and yet city is winning easy even without Aguero and sometimes without Silva, Toure etc. We have to put shit together. Or we can say goodbye to title.

Still top of the table and that one point advantage though :halo:
