Remy has been bang in form and deserves to play - even if he shagged Jose's wife :o

If I was the gaffer & I found this out, then I would bench Remy too. I heard that Ronaldinho was banging Rijkaard's daughter & that led to his departure from Barca. There are some boundaries that shouldn't be crossed.

I hope that ain't the fucking case - no person bigger than the club - even Mourinho - just let the fucking players play.

Remy has been bang in form and deserves to play - even if he shagged Jose's wife - I don't care, it's what's best for the team!

What if he did that to your wife? :)

Remy does not score much but when he does he makes sure the goals are fucking vital. Irc every goal except the Tottenham one was a decisive one. 1-0 vs that dummy cl side, winners at hull, stoke and swansea, opener vs city home.

Did not score yesterday but I thought his all round game play was fantastic. Especially considering this was his first game for a few weeks, I was impressed. Had great hold up play, caused problems with his pace, movement and strength and done some great link up play. He has proven that he is more than capable of doing a job for us when he plays. I just don't understand when people come up with buying established strikers for ridiculous fees when we already have 2 quality strikers in Costa and Remy.

While I do not rate Remy's performance quite as high you, I do agree with your point.

As for people wanting a new ST, they seem to think Costa and Remy could be out simultaneously again next season. But what are the chances of that happening again? Remy wasn't even injured that much this season. I think people forget that, for some strange reason, Drogba was 2nd choice before the turn of the year, with Remy sitting on the bench/stands and barely playing.

Others think it's possible to keep three senior strikers happy (Costa, Benteke, Remy for example). Wishful thinking imo.

From a FFP POV it would not make sense as well. Mourinho already said that the strategy to stick with FFP rules will most likely be sell to spend. We probably can buy a big name without selling, who knows however it would not make sense to spend over £20m on a striker when they won't be our no.1 and we can't base assumptions on that our strikers may be injured.

I havent seen anybody deny the qualities of Remy as a backup striker.

And the reason why we need another striker is quite clear and has been stated before.

With the departure of Drogba it's clear someone has to fill that gap, and preferable someone with the same profile who can give another option when plan A isn't working.

And i rather have a quality option to fill that gap (like Benteke) instead of someone like Lambert.

Don't think we will be able to keep those 3 strikers happy but i don't think you will be able to do that with any quality strikers but that isn't a reason why we should go for lesser quality

Of course it is. That's why Mourinho went for Drogba last season. If it was up to the manager, he would have a squad of 23 top quality players. But that's not possible. Even Real had to sell the likes of Ozil, Higuain, Di Maria etc.

Drogba will need to be replaced, yes, but it will have to be a player understanding he won't play much. Quality players don't accept such a role.

It's one position. Don't be surprised if Drogba stays or is replaced with a decent player at best. Either that or Solanke is good enough for third choice. 25-30 for a back up, with a 10 mil back up already here, is silly.

Benteke almost costing you as much as Costa is absolutely ridiculous btw. He'd probably cost 15 mil more if he was English. That's why it's best to scout abroad.

Edit: If someone like Benteke is joining, Remy will be leaving.

It won't be possible to have Costa, Remy and Benteke. Remy would leave in that instance. We will end up getting a good striker who may not be top class but can do a job. Similar to Drogba but younger. That is what we will be looking for. Benteke would not come here to play 2nd/3rd fiddle anyway unless it was for money and I don't think it is an option the club will be pursuing. Spending over £20m on a striker to be a back up does not make sense. If we had the first few years of the Roman era when we could splash cash for fun then yeah but things have changed now. We will see anyway. I just don't think ti is realistic to think we can Costa, Remy and Benteke. Even in fantasy football that is pushing it.

Don't think it's impossible, Jose always likes to have 3 quality strikers. He said something like this:

"When you play a system with 1 striker, I need 3 in my squad. Because when 1 is injured I need at least 1 other on the bench. When you play a system with 2 strikers, 3 is okay but 4 is ideal."

Two weeks ago he also hinted at the injury problems of Diego and Remy. Said something like "Imagine we we were still in the CL, competing for the FA cup, we were lucky to have Didier fit."

I also saw the interview of Loic, he said this is just his first year, next year he wants to win more trophies with us. I think the key is how to convince Remy to stay and fight for his minutes.

Mou also said if it was up to him he would keep Cech as a second goalkeeper against his wishes because he wants two quality goalkeepers in his side. So offcourse he wants quality on his bench.

And as i said, i probably don't think it is possible to keep all three happy but that will always be a problem. What kind of decent striker will be happy to sit on the bench all the time, it's almost an impossible situation. And if someone like a Benteke would join, I can easily see us losing Remy after the following season but that's just how it goes.

And please stop with the money argument, its bs.

Since when can't a backup, in probably the most important position, cost any money?? In what other area's are we gonna splunk money away such that we can't afford it? What alternative with that profile are you suggesting for 10 million? Benteke is still young so even if it doesn't work out, he has great resell value and you never run the risk of losing a lot of money.

For example:

Say you buy Lambert for 4 million, no resale value so you end up losing 4 million when he retires.

Say you buy Benteke for 25 million, he stays for 2 seasons and he wants out, you can easily resell a 26 year Benteke for 21 million and end up losing about the same amount of money.

It's about improving our squad compared to this season, not keep the status quo

Like he said you need 3 (In Real he had higuain and benzema and the other striker was Adebayor), but there is no way to have 3 really good striker competing for one spot and make everyone happy unless they can also play other position.
