I used to be the biggest Costa fan but now I genuinely think he's playing terrible on purpose to force us to sell him in the summer.

Some of the stuff he does during games is absolutely scandalous. Scuffing a pass with his left when the ball is on his right and he can feed Hazard on a breakaway? Horrendous technique when completely unmarked and a shot which would have ended up in the streets if it wasn't for the deflection? Completely ignoring the best passing options and always choosing the bad ones? These are just some examples off top of my head, but my point is that they are not anything you'd expect of a simply out of form or 'donkey' striker.

For me his head is completely gone. Win the title and sell him the fuck to China in the summer. That's all.

This is exactly what I've been thinking lately. It's so goddamn obvious that he doesn't care and he's sabotaging our attacks. Why is Conte then being such a coward and playing him unconditionally? Arhh, it's Ivanovic and Mourinho all over again. Even Fabregas as a false 9 would be a huge upgrade on him atm.

I was convinced that Bats was going to get some real match time today.  I haven't been as quick as some of the others with the Costa sucks, etc.  But, I thought he was pretty bad today.  I echo the previous comment:  What does Bats have to do to get some minutes?

Costa should have been subbed around 60-65 minutes for Bats to get some game time. Again, Costa was losing possession of the ball in crucial areas, miss hitting shots, getting done when he had it, etc, etc. Perfect time for Bats to come on, against a team we had on the ropes for most of the match and see what he could do.

I can't imagine the meltdown for some if Costa stays next season.

He might just have another hot start and then drop off after December(ala Cesc) as well (like he did in 14-15).

Personally, I'm in the camp that's frustrated by his poor finishing and touch but I'm not going as far as calling him a mercenary/donkey or what have you. I don't believe for once that he's screwing up and looking bad intentionally. <_<

I have no idea what transpired (I don't like speculations and here-say) during the December fiasco. But if his head was indeed turned, I have confidence that Conte has it under control. It's not like we're losing or dropping points week in week out with him in the side. He still contributes even at his lowest, to say Bats would come and do a better job is just the benefit of  hindsight.

What I do agree in regards to yesterday as that Bats should've gotten some minutes particularly after we went 3-1, but also understood that Conte felt it was still a dangerous scoreline with 25mins to go.

I don't think he deserves the hate he's getting, he's done more for us in the league for three seasons than Torres/Shevchenko did combined during their time here at Chelsea.

He stands to finish as our top scorer for two title winning seasons, if he leaves, we'll be back to square one in the striking department.

Stop talking sense please, that's not how it works here.

I never compared him to Torres. But I will now - Diego Costa is a lot better player than CFC Torres ever was. I only wanted to say that scoring 20 goals a season isn't that special, that even CFC Torres did it once (STILL BEING MUCH INFERIOR PLAYER TO COSTA: to ensure myself no one will be putting words in my mouth again :) ). Especially in a title winning team when he scored 21 goals (CFC 2014/15). Or you want to tell me Costa had amazing season 2014/15? Do you know Diego Costa scored ZERO goals in UCL in 2014/15? And he is irreplacable? Why is that? Oh, yes, we had Torres, now Diego is irreplacable. Add to that that he clearly wanted out of the club, that he is regularly talking to media that he could go to China or wherever ("yes, I could go, you never know"), add to that that he really doesn't care if he gets red card (rugby off ball tackles) and leave his team hanging, add to that that he will always cause some problems. Yes, I AM watching football, but maybe some of you are not seeing Diego Costa and that our club is becoming his b**ch.

I'm still waiting someone to explain me what is all the fuss about him. I was over the moon with him too at the moments (when we FINALLY got ok striker (2014) and recently - months ago when he was playing good). But when I look at it more globally, more long term, when I calculate all the good and the bad... this is what I get.

I'm not saying that he is average, I'm saying - we can do better, that better being striker you could actually count on. And to do better than this is not THAT hard as someones think.

If you want to tell me something, I'm here, mate. :)

Hi mate - on this topic, and that viewpoint - I'm happy to classify you as a 'bellend' - now that's just MY classification and you shouldn't let it bother you because you don't know me :) I don't mean it in a nasty vindictive way - just more of a wow don't be a bellend kinda way :)

you are entitled to your opinion:) I just don't share it :)

The pro-Costa posts in here are disturbing. Purposeful ignorance & sugar-coating, even deviating from the points at hand, with little to no rational thought or context. Just, 'He's better than Torres - how dare you say he should be sold?' with a lie here and there sprinkled in, like 'last year even a handful of us were pining for Hazard to be sold' - we were not. You were not. Nobody on here was saying sell Hazard, and nobody on here is saying Costa has been a shit Chelsea player.

People are saying that now is a time where we're just entering that long term ride with him; yet we know he isn't a long-term player, and so based on the fact his mentality seems less than impressive, and his consistency should be questioned, we should cut ties.

Simple.

Nobody in their heart believes Costa is simply 'shit' without further explanation, so to build pro-Costa retorts based on that is stupid.

Do any of those people who said Hazard should be sold post today? I'm sure we'd remember their names, unless they had 13 posts each.

I don't know, don't remember who they were exactly and don't care enough to search his thread, but there 100% was a Hazard out camp.

Yes, 2 or 3 guys wanted him out. But that's it. There are dozens of people wanting Costa out, it's not even close.
