Strike 7,492
5m a year is under 100k pw. I can live with that. but anything over 120k pw is cringe-worthy
kellzfresh 7,229
The fact he played for barcelona before means he's a very good link up striker and is the only reason i'll support this transferi heard he's on 7mil pounds a year on 130k a week. Props to him for cutting his previous salary by 13mil in a year.
bushman 2,043
Since Chelsea didn´t sign any other striker, Eto´o is the result. It´s him or nobody, I feel.Hopefully, he can help the team.
Las7 951
Its a transfer without too much risk, if it doesn't work out as a stop gap - we won't be any worse off. I don't know if Eto'o is able to be around 75% of what he previously was he would be an upgrade on any of our strikers. Just hope he has continued to keep himself fit - because his movement and physical ability are two of his best traits. Considering we have Ba and Torres on the books right now Eto'o could prove to be a major upgrade. Just because he was the best payed footballer in the World due to joining some club in Kazakhstan doesn't mean he had stopped training over those last two years. I doubt there is too much to do there anyway - other than train
Heisenberg 1,824
I dont understand why some here are complaining, Eto'o may be a different player since the Barcelona days, but I thought with the Drogba episode, with Pirlo at Juventus, with Gerrard at Liverpool and Lampard-Terry here that, age is only a number. He played behind Lacina Traore I heard, thats what influenced his goalscoaring stats, nevertheless, technically he is by far much better that our three strikers, his agility remained intact. He may lost some of his pace at his age, but pace isnt everything for a striker, look at van Persie with his finishing, that's what we need and Eto'o offers that. His main work here is to play in the proper way with our attacking midfielders, and finish the actions when he has the possiblity, something both Ba and Torres failed to do.He is costing us money, but in the same time we'll allow Ba or Torres to go which will appease the transfert, very good buy. Melanicus 5,208
It's pointless to post old articles and interviews, especially with the history between Chelsea and Barcelona and Mourinho and Rijkaard, but still...Eto'o: No way I'll join Chelseahttp://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/2335708/Eto-o-No-way-I-ll-join-ChelseaHe also said this later.Eto'o: "I have played under a lot of great coaches but there is no other character in the game like Jose. There is only one Jose Mourinho."

Mouri_Matic 560
What if he suddenly bang in 20 goals this season for us? Do you think the club would keep him next year or buy a new striker next summer?
chrismada9 1,948
Still scratching my head over Eto'o .. We could have gone for someone better but no good fighting tooth and nail over it when the deadline is getting close now. Best do the deal now rather than doing an Arsenal and leaving everything to the last minute.I'm absolutely sure Mourinho knows what he's doing! bushman 2,043
All I read, Chelsea could have gone for better, he is too old...all this crap. How many respectable strikers are left in this window, is my question ?Eto´o was signed for peanuts, gets paid peanuts, so why all these complains ? Let the guy play & then we will see how helpful he is for Chelsea. If he works out, Jose will look like genius. If he flops, well Chelsea will have one more flop on their hands. Nothing less, nothing more.
diskoviolente 425
I think signing Eto'o might be a good solution for now until there is someone younger and more available on the market. He might lost some of his pace but with our line of attack he might not relay on it too much anymore, because all we need upfront is to know how to finish off a move. From what I can gather one of Eto'os great skills is his finishing and I am sure he has not lost that skill (unlike another member of our attacking department). Him signing a big "12 months contract" would be ideal for Eto'o and could prove to be the difference in this title race for us.
Ramox 246
Samuel Eto'o: Has had the most shots in the Russian Premier League this season (26), scoring only twice (7.7% conversion)Ba's conversion rate is around 8% if i'm right.Edit: 7% - Demba Ba's Premier League conversion rate at Chelsea, compared to 19% at Newcastle in 2012-13. Misfire.
