benitez also has won the UCL once and the Uefa Cup too.

so you basically admit that if Benitez would have wanted Etoo, you wouldnt be supporting it?

And Drogba is something completely different than Etoo. he never was a player who lived on his speed not like etoo. also etoo comes to a league in which he never played in and also hasnt got any pre-season with us etc etc.

No, if Benitez wanted Eto'o I'd also back Benitez decision because I feel it is the right move.Time for me to question you, are you comparing Benitez and Mourinho ?

he is past it. winner or not. nobody cares what he has done 5 years or 3 years ago, the now matters. being a winner wont bring back his speed and dynamic he had once. i am quite sure that if Benitez would want this transfer, more people would be against it but now because of Mourinho everyone is praising him without even have watched a game from him since he joined Anzhi.

Samuel Eto'o will sign a one-year deal with English side Chelsea on Thursday. [Mundo Deportívo]

I'm supportive of the signing simply because it's a great stop gap signing and he fills in a void in our strike force. The way he plays now, the new Eto'o, is the type of striker we lack; a technical striker. He doesn't need the speed or dynamism (even though he still has plenty of that) that he used to have because his game is more refined now to being a technical striker.

It has nothing to do with whether Mourinho or Benitez is signing him. It just makes sense because we obviously can't get Rooney.

A one year deal suits everyone.

Eto'o is not that bad. His finishing is still good from what i've read, and his linkup play and dribbling has gotten better due to him playing behind Traore. He obviously has lost pace, but if he can get the ball at the edge of the box and make things happen for himself or others - like he has been doing at Anzhi - then that'd be good enough for now.

People forget that at Inter (especially in his last year), he was one of the most technical and intelligent strikers in football. @TheSkipper also made a similar comment a few pages back. The most popular argument I've seen for people against this signing is that he's older now & therefore his pace will have deteriorated. I don't understand the idea that he relied on pace.

well it was one of his main assets. also at inter he could run 90 mins for fun, he hasnt got that stamina anymore. its also funny that people compare him to inter days he is nowhere near phsically to that.

I think what he meant is that, without pace and energy, he is still a very good striker. Intelligent, makes runs, drags defenders, brilliant movement. Back at Barcelona, he , Messi, Henry were beautiful to watch. He didn't need pace or stamina (though he did have that) . He is a very technically sound player.

well it seems we have a coach "who doesn't know what he is doing" so many mistakes already AND we dropped 2 points on Monday ...

we need to audition some of the forum to replace " The Useless One"

Sorry, but I would rather stick with " the Special One. "

Jose is & was the best there is, even though I wasn´t too happy with his selection on Monday. Despite of it, he got the job done.

I never really was a big fan of Eto'o ever since he left Barca. he was a great player with Barca but when he moved to Inter, he lost his pace. he's 33(?) and we're just signing him for the sake of getting a striker. I'd rather start Moses/Schurrle as CF than just waste money on players who are way past their best.

I am very happy with this transfer. Eto'o will help us, most definitely.

He's not that old, he's 32. RVP was 29 when United signed him and he won them the league. Not that big of a difference in matter of ages.

yeah 3 years arent that much? 32 and 29 is a big difference for a football player. we arent talking about somebody who is 20 and 23. also RVP is a completely different type than Etoo. you cant compaare them both at all.

etoo is still a good striker but I dont see how he could bring any benefits to us in his state that he is currently in. 2 years without competition and he doesnt knows the EPL etc. he is coming to the most dynamic league. some people seem not to realise that. but yeah Mou wilil fix him as he does wiith all players :). think Ba will go now, even though I would have given him the chance to prove himself this season.
