👕 Chelsea Kits Thread

I hope we'll be the first club to put some wearable electronics on our kits someday. Imagine an LED backed invisible badge that glows when tapped :D .. don't know if it'd be allowed though

You just know that in the future there will be some form of the game where the kit will become body armor and will become full contact

People dont mind the word itself, but the tyres is completely out of place and its clear its there to teach people that Yokohama is a company selling tyres, since in the original logo there is only "Yokohama", then someone realized its a very weak name for a company and "Yokohama" alone doesn't mean anything. Most people would think Yokohama's tourism board is supporting Chelsea, like Arzeibajan Atlético's sponsorship.

Samsung also removed the mobile after 3 seasons, but at least that made sense, because back in 2005 it was really difficult to associate Samsung and celular phones and the mobile was very well designed, while the tyres looks 100% awful.

Umm...Yokohama is huge, plenty of people know they sell tires. Anyone who has any type of knowledge of cars, that is.

It seems we will have "tires" in the american version of the kit.

Oh, FFS, I hope not. Who would want one of those? I would want the real deal, not some street vendor looking knock-off. Surely, they will sell the right version globally.

Good Year, Continental, Pirelli, Firestone, Bridgestone and Michelin are huge companies. Of course Yokohama is big, since only a big company could pay that kind of money for sponsorship deal.

Saying anyone who has any type of knowledge of cars knows Yokohama is a huge exaggeration. I remember when WHS revealed Yokohama, most people said they never heard of the company before. I have access to 2013 global tyre sales, Yokohama sold amost 6x les than Bridgestone/Firestone, global leading brand, and were behind Sumitomo Tires and Hankook Tires, and sold almost as much as Cheng Shin and Zhongce Rubber Group. I bet you never heard of Sumitomo and Hankook.

Yokohama also barely gets involved in motosports, and considering most of Yokohama sales are probably coling from regional asian market, don't pretend Yokohama brand is well known and dont need the "tyre" to explain what they are about. They do, and thats why the "tyre" is there.

No, I was kidding. Lets end this before people get ir for real as they did with Cuadrado FIFA16/cover.

Never heard of the bolded two but I know Yokohama very well. It really depends on the market and how much advertisement they've done there.

Yokohama is "one of those" ones that you haven't heard of, but you have, if that makes sense - e.g. you've heard of them but they're not a massively marketed company. People have to realise that Samsung's first marketed phone release in the UK was the SGH-Z300 in February 2005. Around the same time our deal with Samsung was announced. Samsung took off in the UK at the same time that Chelsea did under Mourinho and Abramovich. The same will happen with Yokohama, it'll be a massively marketable company and instantly recognisable in a few years.

Difference being is Samsung was initially marketing it's phones. As it grew they had a lot more products other than phones and calling it Samsung Mobiles was a negative marketing strategy as they had so much more to offer. Yokohama doesn't and probably won't ever have that luxury.

Fair point, but in terms of "getting known", Yokohama's marketability will definitely rise because everyone will see it plastered over Chelsea shirts on Match of the Day every weekend.

I thought Samsung decided to drop the mobile from the name because they wanted to market more than mobile phones. If Yokohama doesn't sell anything but tires, wouldn't that mean that the tyres will always be on the shirt?

It doesn't look bad to me at all. I'm glad I don't get my nuts twisted by something so small

Firestone is a brand of Bridgestone group.

Continental is 4th largest company in the world, while Yokohama is only 8th. Continental sales are 2x bigger than Yokohama.

Pornhub or UKIP could sponsor us for the amount Yokohama are paying us and I wouldn't give a shit.

I would, because parents and moralists would boycott our games and drop our ad revenue, sales, popularity, etc...
