The Skipper 20,609
What I don't understand is why so many are including KDB as a right winger when he's barely played there throughout his whole career...

mediator 2,026
I like that formation but i would let Mata as number 10 and compete KDB and Oscar for the same place in the pivot. So a new RW is a must i think.Coentrao sounds good to me but i won't play Terry as a starter anymore, just as 3th or 4th option behind Ivan (3th option). A new CB is needed to compliment Luiz

manpe 10,861
Dunno what I just did there, looks a bit silly. I like to think we could find balance between solid defence and ruthless offense with this formation and line-up, but against stronger oppositions we most definitely would need to replace either Oscar or KDB for Ramires. But generally this team would operate on the basis of outscoring the opponent.
Chelsea? 892
Post your Chelsea XI for the 2013-14 season. Use this website if you want to generate the image http://footballformation.co.uk/No opinions. No discussion. No transfer fees but don't be very unrealistic like including Bale, Ronaldo. Don't consider confirmed transfers either - Gotze, Moutinho etc. Pick a formation, fill in the players and post. This will be my choicecavani, Di Maria, and Modric instead. too bad there aren't many crossing right wingers. Cause with a player like Cavani, you'll need someone to cross him the ball. so maybe Lewandowski might be the better option if we bring in Di Maria

Stingray 9,441
Wasn't he played more at the left wing though? Or am I just getting confused?Mostly left yes - under Mario Been especially. Sorry - just read 'flank'. Still: played right as well though - also played there in the NT. I personally think he is as good on the left as on the right - though he is still better at the 8 position.... To conclude: my bad Skipper

Hutcho 8,443
Oscar is being left out for the simple reason of Mata is obviously not getting moved, and we are extremely narrow on the right without a proper winger there. He can play CM, though if we are gonna buy a CM, which everyone hopes we do, then they would get played in their primary position (especially given as this is all hypothetical, and everyone is hoping that Modric, or whoever is signed, in which case you can't play Modric and Oscar in the pivot as that is suicidal. If we bought Bender/de rossi/ Witsel, then Oscar could play alongside them in there. Its also hypothetical, most of the players mentioned won't ever wear a chelsea shirt. When we know what we actually will have to work with for next season then i am sure these will all change drastically.
Strike 7,494
MOST POPULAR XIIvanovic was preferred to other CB options like Terry, Mangala, Varane by a clear margin. Likewise Kevin de Bruyne was the runaway choice for the AM position ahead of Schurrle and di Maria. Cavani beat Lewandowski 19-12 for the ST position. Torres and Ba meanwhile got a single mention eachThe choices for the CM position was varied and interesting and after a quick look-up, these are the crunched numbersOscar - 19Ramires - 15Modric - 15de Rossi - 14--------------------Mikel - 3 (Note - BluesMaster put a question mark next to Mikel)

In Narnia that's not what I meant. I meant there's no way a guy like De Bruyne should be the guy tipped to be our starter

It's clear Chelsea see him as an attacking midfielder (in a 4-3-3, it could be different obviously). I think we realistically need to get a CMer or two and someone who can play as a real right winger and straighten out or striker situation. We'll see what happens, but it should be interesting. Also those numbers are quite distorted because obviously players we actually have are gonna be more popular than those we don't.For example, if we announce tommorrow that we have signed Luka Modric i guarentee he would be the number 1 choice for the pivot.Or if we sign Varane, or subotic tommorrow then they would be our number one choice for centre back over ivanovic and it wouldn't be close. Chelsea player bias was evident but it was not so much in the pivot and especially in attack. If you take out own player bias, i think de Rossi and Modric was a popular choice in the pivot and Schurrle on the wing. Really surprised to see Ramires get so many mentions although there were some in a 3-man mid where he was the B2B
