The Skipper 20,609
He's a striker. Even some of his passes were wayward. We bought a striker out of semi-retirement at the age of 32 and he's not that good anymore. Why is anyone surprised? It's not his fault. The problem is that we loaned out a hungry young striker a couple of days later. Eto'o isn't the problem, but he's a symptom of the problem.Yeah, I agree with all you've said but I was saying to @Alex that what he said is harsh because the other aspects of his game apart from finishing (which is still one of the most important parts of a striker's game obviously) were okay so it's harsh to say that he can't do anything else. And off-topic regarding Lukaku but Romelu has recently reinforced that it was him that wanted the loan move and that he asked Mourinho. Granted Jose could've stopped the move but I don't think anyone could've imagined our striker situation to be this dire. That's another discussion for another day though. Las7 951
Nothing can make Torres look good, both are as shite in front of goal as each other - difference is I had close to no expectations for Eto'o and he didn't cost us much. Special Juan 28,141
Eto'o can't hit a barn door, Torres is just Torres and Ba is totally not right. But let's hope and pray our strike force can come good for the thirty thousandth time this season.I am not usually a fan of signings in January but I cannot believe we won't go for a striker at least

CHOULO19 24,332
That's harsh. His finishing was atrocious but everything else in his game was decent. That's not really true. Yes, he held the ball up well, but he was just sooo slow on the ball. So many times he could have created a chance for someone but was just too slow to release the ball and the opportunity was gone. At least Fernando doesn't do that (anymore). BlueLion.

Zoro 151
Maybe we could get Drogba back on loan for 6 months....
Blue Warrior 109
Never go back, the Drogba era ended with the perfect sendoff. Torres will score goals in the Champions league and cup competitions. I hope at the end of the season we send him back to Spain.

Popular Post! Tomo 21,751 Posted December 29, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted December 29, 2013 Just had a look back at this thread roughly November last year, and it all came flooding back about how angry i was at the Torres situation and quite frankly still am. I thought i have become begrudgingly acceptant of the whole farce, but reading back the thought's i (and other members) had, i am still just as angry and deep down, i always will be.He moans about not starting the CL final while the rest of the players are getting drunk enjoying the moment, we respond by letting him be #1 forward while letting a hungry forward kick his heels on the bench, he repays us by walking down the tunnel at QPR and saying he didn't care about results. Aswell as looking disinterested almost every game, and worse off all, he gets rewarded by getting the loudest cheer in the stadium every single time along with excuse after excuse made for him and then to top it off i have to hear about how 'hard' he works. While on the other hand Eto'o, Ba and Sturridge get/got slated for any little thing. Torres has even a good game for his standards and you can't even say anything of any form of critique for about a month without getting a firing squad onto you. All he will have to do today is one decent thing and someone will probably quote this saying "he has proved me wrong", no he aint. When you factor in the performances aswell as the affect he has had on this club, he for me is the worst player we have had in my lifetime, and bit by bit he wares me down, when Bosingwa and Turnbull left i was relieved, when Torres leaves i will be ecstatic. If he has a good game today, i will give credit for that isolated game, but in the grand scheme of things it changes nothing, i can't wait until June 2016, and with any luck a nice surprise will come and his departure will come sooner, but i won't hold my breath. Barbara 15,149
Mourinho's face after Nando missed that goal. It reflects how we feel about all our strikers (although both did well last night imo).Even Eva is angsty about it, lol.
Jase 43,479
First time we actually beat Liverpool in the league in 6 games(!) with Torres playing, albeit coming off from the bench... The_Flash

Phil Driver 503
Nando still shows signs that he can recover his fomer self and he is without doubt a confidence player ,if Jose gets Nando firing we can win the lot ? IF ?
CHOULO19 24,332
Had an excellent start to the game and deserved the luck he got in the goal. But was very frustrating after the goal. Almost broke Ba's record of offsides!

Tomo 21,751
Apart from that ludicrious decision at the end of the first half, when he basically passed the ball to Davis when we had a counter attack on he had a good game today, deserves credit for this. But in the long run, it changes nothing, we still need a new striker and i would bite any club's hand off if they made an offer to sign him.
