🇪🇸 Fernando Torres

Totally agree. The argument that a striker is not performing because goals are not laid on a plate for him is frankly pathetic. I'm sure even Mikel could score too if he was passed the ball right in front of goal. Torres' movement needs to improve in order for him to get better opportunities, I'd prefer it if he implemented more passing movements as he did against Newcastle rather than trying to take on players which frequently results in lost possession.

No you are wrong. He's Fernando Torres so logic and good sense doesn't apply. He can't do any wrong. If he is playing badly it must be because of the players around him! When he is invisible for 90 minutes it must be because he didn't get any service and not because he was lazy and has no way of creating chances for himself! Leave Torres alone it is not his fault. Stop attacking him, it's RDM's fault, or our midfields fault, or the referees fault...anybody but him.

Excellent use of subtle sarcasm good sir. Of course its partly Torres' fault, but he isn't the only one at fault. Yes he was poor against QPR, but he wasn't the only one. I'm all for constructive criticism but when it comes to Torres its either people "blindly" sticking up for him, or people who slate him for every little thing.

He's certainly at fault for poor perfomances at times, just like RDM can be at fault for a poor team performance, but it's not always his fault if he has a poor game, just like it isn't always RDM's fault if we play poorly in general. Sometimes shit just happens, and I think the QPR game was a prime example of it.

But the problem is that players who played shit against QPR have had good games before, but torres seriously havent had any. Yeah, he has played some okey games but i stand clear on my point that since torres came to Chelsea he havent had a really good game for us which has made me think "wow, thats a world class striker we've got there"

if you think Torres has never had a good game for us then you clearly have never seen him play very often!

I no Torres lover but I wouldn't look too much into this Daily Mail article. The type of feature anyone can make up (which they have done before for players at Chelsea) with zero evidence and quotes, just trying to put 2+2 together when watching Torres.

Typical English media. When he was scoring the goals prior to the international break, it was all 'Torres is back!' headline and everything was positive and after just poor game against QPR, it's all negative headlines once again.

I'd like to wonder where we would be had we no signed him and still kept Drogba... OH wait..... we are top of the table!! Honestly, Torres had fuck-all service the other day. Our fucked up midfield and wingers let him down. Nobody else..

Yes yes. Blame the wingers. Blame the midfielders. Blame everyone else. Torres is the innocent one here as always...

I think it could be a win-win situation for us because either torres is gonna score goals for fun for us or we will sign falcao in january.

Or we come to some 'swap' arrangement with Atletico... for Torres and Falcao...

I think Torres would like that, but I think Atletico need money, so it might be Torres + Cash = Falcao...

The only snag, we still reliant on Falcao + Studge, unless Lukaku proves himself during his loan period?

Torres has a decent record against the Italians, as seen from the Euros.

As much as I prefer Sturridge to start (because of his ability to drop deep and set up attacks), I'd like to see how the Spaniard fares against the Italian champions. Hopefully he can get some kind of service though...

I think it will almost certainly be torres plus cash for falcao and i think falcao+studge would be good enough for this season.

Don't see why Athletico would do that. I am sure Chelsea's valuation of Torres will be higher than most teams would pay for him. If he struggles until January, how much is anyone going to pay for him? 15M? Van Persie just went for 24M and he's only year older than Torres and much better. Also, Torres us on what 170K/week? No way a team that is struggling to break even is going to pay that kind of wage.

Torres could take a pay-cut to be with his beloved, boyhood club Atletico, so its not unlikely.

Honestly, I'm not defending Torres. To be honest, for the right price, i would sell him today and risk half the season playing Sturridge alone.

I just think without decent service, how can he score? We were honestly dominated by QPR. I still feel sick from that game. How we can dominate them a year before with 9 men, yet can't get a decent shot on goal with 11.

And all that aside, Atletico need money.
