Questionable? We did well in the Champions League for a number of years 7-8 years ago and I don't think there was recognition for Terry, Lampard, Drogba etc.

There was for Terry and Lampard.

I always thought there was more recognition for Terry and Drogba than Lamps, at least outside uk. 

Drogba was popular face in media, for his kindness to africa especialy and gave him alot of attention, terry on other hand was always in some affairs, which made him realy popular, but still everyone respected and appreciated his quality on pitch. Lamps was obviously super player too, but IMO never got that fame of other two. Those two were always regarded among best in their time, but for Lamps, there was never as much attention to him as it was for Xavi, Kaka,...I mean Lamps got to 3rd place in balondor, but media never gave him recognition he deserved. He was certainly among if not most efficient midfielder in 00s.

No, fancy haircuts, big cars, fuckboy attitude, swag and instagram pics give recognition. 

The fact mbappe ended 7th and Hazard 19th last season in balon dor, sums it all up.
