DH1988 1,348
Disagree, I think any average football fan can see Ashley has struggled since the contract business came about. I for one have said this a few times already on here. Just pointing out he struggled for the first time really :-)
gary gordon 1,777
Has been probably one of the only players that gave a shit today.
Hamilton 2,120
With Ba on his way we probably have someone decent at the end of those fine crosses by Azpi..
Jase 43,479
Thought he was brilliant today and it's really nice for a change to have a proper RB, who can defend and attack including bombing up and down the flank all day long and whipping the crosses. The fact that he has pace too makes it all the better if we pass into space for him to run into and/or if there is a need to chase opponent. The one thing he needs to really improve on is his crossing. It was absolutely woeful at times today and arguably, it's even worse than Bosingwa's crosses!

BlueLion. 21,491
Bosingwa's crossing > Dave's crossing. In every other aspect: Bosingwa > a three-legged kitten > most other Premier League defenders > Dave > Zabaleta.
OReillyD36 311
His crosses from deep are good but for some reason when he overlaps a player and crosses from the by-line they are horrendous. But he's young and (hopefully) will improve as time goes on.

It was absolutely woeful at times today and arguably, it's even worse than Bosingwa's crosses!I agree fully with this. But he usually does have a good cross. He's whipped in some lovely crosses and has a few assists this season so far. But his crossing was woeful today, like you said. And it really is delightful to have a quality right back. I was never convinced by Ivanovic at right back, I much prefer him at centre-back.But yeah, Azpi was awesome today. It's just that at times he can be a bit hit and miss with his cross. Needs to be more consistent with it.And also, the fact that he can cross with his left foot is a bonus for us, especially when opponents don't give him the space and chance to cross with his right foot. That's actually a very under-rated quality in a full-back. IIRC, Azpi assists Hazard's goal against West Brom with a left-footed cross after cutting back from his right.7 million, is that what he cost? A bargain. It's so hard to find a quality full-back nowadays.

He just had an off day today. Spike and Amblève.

BlueLion. 21,491
Knew he'd be a hit in this league. I liked him at Marseilles and I remember Lyon were linked with him a couple of years back. Firstly he is a great defender and extremely athletic, but crucially he is also brilliant in an attacking sense. Beautiful cross for the first goal today. Bir_CFC 3,455
Gotta give credit to the scouts and the board. We were linked with Debuchy, Van der wiel and azpi and hands down we picked the best one. Ollie and Azpinator
Jase 43,479
Was watching the Soccer Saturday highlights just now and Paul Merson couldn't pronounce Azpilicueta's name properly. Went with Az-ko-loh-keh-ta.

Now that Debuchy's signed for Newcastle, we'll see who comes out on top between them. Though Debuchy did do well for France last year.
