Oscar

Players do not improve in the fundamentals; in the things which are related to their natural talent level. Oscar was never, ever going to improve the things which make him unsuitable for Chelsea. As some of us were saying three years ago.

I don't agree that he's regressed. People have just given up on the he's tired excuse and are no longer prepared to deny the evidence of their own eyes. If he's coming in for severe stick these days I'd say it's because people feel let down after they stuck with him and gave him so many chances over such a long period of time.

When I jumped ship before Christmas 2012, I was told but he's only 20. I predicted then that people would still be offering that excuse when he was 23. Can't remember if I said anything about 24. [emoji4]

Some players improve when they're around better players and that is what most hoped for when he came here. I was with the bunch that thought he deserved a break after playing like 70+ games in a season plus IIRC at a young age. The "burnout" excuse was valid a few years back, but is overall game hasn't improved much during his time here IMO. Some might have expected too much from him.

He just hasn't delivered on a consistent basis and it shows it's one of his character traits. The decision to get rid of Mata AND KDB has backfired big time, especially with the latter excelling so much in half the time he's been given.

Chelsea need to cut their losses and cash in for everyone's benefit.

He has regressed indeed. If you look at his stats you will that they are down in comparison: he had goals, assists and especially interception due to high working rate... Not anymore.

not that it matters too much right now though-this is his current level.

However we have quite a few oscars or worse on the team, you guy's obsession with Oscar is unhealthy... Sorry couldn't resist.

Those stats can be affected by too many external factors to be a reliable indicator of anything. When I see him play, I see the same footballer that I stoped believing in a very, very long time ago.

I'm not obsessed by Oscar. I'm just bemused as to why there are still people wiling to hold out hope for a miracle.

Agreed except work rate, which is puzzling tbh.

Think that ship has already sailed. Even people like me who still think he can improve, don't think that's likely to happen at Chelsea.

what worries me is that even at current level, there are far worse problems in the team: like the fact our midfield gets overrun by anyone. Can't win games losing the midfield.

I simply do not agree. At all. He was young, mega fit and capable of it. If not the metrics would have shown him in the red-zone and he's have been rested. In any case, if you can't outpace someone that might be because you're tired, but if you can't control the football on the dribble because your technique is too poor then that has nothing to do with tiredness. Oscar never suffered a deficit of energy, he suffers a deficit of talent.

I hope and I pray that everyone in the decision making chain is as aware of this as we need them to be.

I don't blame the club for their supposed statement that no major restructuring of the squad is necessary. It's the right thing to say for public consumption. As long as they didn't mean it...

Talent didn't seem to be the problem when he firsted joined, but inconsistency was. The former has come to the forefront in the last year and a half to me. I never thought he was going to be the next Kaka, etc (like most Brazilian youngsters are hyped up), but I certainly thought he could add something. He's more effective on the bench than on the field.

RLC did more in 6mins than Oscar has since his hat-trick vs MK Dons. Everything Oscar touched in this match went to shit.

Gotta go after Isco/Fekir/anybody other than this waste of space. Desperately in need a true Playmaker in the squad.

And to that Chinese club that offered a crazy sum for Oscar in February...

"Baby come back! You can blame it all on me!"

"Oscar is not our biggest problem". After "he is only 20", "he is only 21", "he is only 22", "he is only 23", "he is only 24", and then "he is tired and needs a pre-seadon", etc etc, I think we have a winner among shit on stick excuses "he is not our biggest problem".

How the fucking hell is not he our biggest problem? We have just one no.10 in our squad. We have just 4 senior AMs and this piece of shit is one of them. Can you believe that. A no.10 who can't create, who can't pass, who can't dribble, has no passing range. What a bloody horrible player. And he is a nailed on starter and the only no.10 in our squad. He IS the biggest problem in our squad.

Because he is one player out of eleven and this is not tennis, as many here would have you believe.:(

so if you replace Oscar and get a fucking "proper" #10 - whatever that may be - the other oscars will still be there fucking it up around your fabled #10.

In the end it's simple arithmetic: the top teams have no oscars in their starting xi or even in the squad. We have them in numbers.

if you want to fool yourself in thinking that replacing Oscar with, say Isco, will make us great again, then go right ahead, but I still find that idea fucking ridiculous.

Can't wait until we bag some proper CM or go to 4-3-3 without him and look a completely changed side. Most frustrating player to have ever been at Chelsea in recent history. Honestly, I could deal with Bosingwa's bad crossess, Anelka's 0 workrate and egoism, Malouda's braindeadness, Kalou's everyday miss, but this guy...He has nothing that actually makes him likeable. Yesterday, he made a shit ton of mistakes. Passes, decisions, dribbles. Don't get me started on his backheels. Tried 3 and failed every single one of them. You're bad enough as it is, don't try to be attractive, you can't. Ruined so many counters.

Honestly. If this guy is with us next season, we deserve the position we are in.
