Aguero and Jovetic are extremely injury prone which leaves him and dzeko competing for the position and Pellegrini can switch back to his 2 striker formation if he wants. As long as things remain the way it's been for the last couple of years, Bony will easily fit in and get plenty of game time.

Yeah I guess, but City generally are injury prone. I'm sure their medical team need evaluating, much like Arsenal's, because they seem to be consistent in the areas.. Usually hamstrings. It's odd in what they're paying for cover essentially.

So are we going to respond by signing anybody or are we going to continue to baby sit the likes of Schurrle and Salah?

Lol why do we need to respond?

They're buying for squad depth, nothing else. We may have a small side, but they're also efficient in the set up Mourinho requires. Buying for the sake of buying is nonsense, in the age of FFP anyway.

because we are only 2 points clear. have areas of obvious weakness, and a couple of players doing nothing to help us.

Did City buy a player or points? Bony doesn't guarantee them more points. We don't need to buy only because City buy someone. Man Utd are gonna spend a lot in the summer so we need to spend more? 0 logic here..

the logic is, we arent ahead by much. and buying the right player would give the team a big boost. we should be looking to improve the team regardless of city signings. the team isnt complete. and you should always look to complete it whenever possible

No team will ever be fully completed. I am sure we are looking for a new RW, someone like Reus. So if we can't get him now, we better wait summer rather than buy another Salah...

That's not need to respond to what City are doing.

Their problems aren't even in goalscoring so they haven't even strengthened where they need to.

This is not a matter of 'responding to what City are doing', this is a matter of fixing a team that has issues in certain areas of the pitch.

It's January though. For all this talk about Reus, I'm sure he/we won't be making any sort of moves for him in January.. We don't need to strengthen this month imo. Unless something drastically happens, I do believe our spending will happen in summer.

but if they can outscore their defensive deficiencies...

Well that's what everyone said about Liverpool last season and well... That speaks for itself.
